The mood is clearly not good among the Warriors, whose dynasty seems to be on the verge of ending. It’s up to the new guard to show that they have the necessary talent to take over… A Dubs rookie was also very clear about the team’s superstars as well as coach Steve Kerr.
Still beaten by the Grizzlies despite being deprived of almost all their best players (116-107), the Warriors failed to revive during MLK Day. Still confined to twelfth place in the Western Conference (only 18 wins for 22 losses), the 2022 champions have been doing really badly since the start of the regular season, whether on the field or even in their own locker room.
This is obviously worrying regarding the 2023-24 campaign, but also for the future of the Dubs. Indeed, the main backbone of the roster is aging and Stephen Curry , Draymond Green or other Klay Thompson will not be eternal. Arriving this summer via the draft, Brandin Podziemski is however overjoyed to be a member of this squad, as he recently told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel .

It’s a blessing, that’s for sure. We play as smoothly as possible. There isn’t much established, it’s all about reading and reacting. That’s the type of player I am. It’s a blessing to be in this position, to be surrounded by Hall of Famers, at my position in particular, to learn and grow.
All I have to do is understand what it takes to win, we have guys who have won multiple titles. For me to be a part of that and perform at the same time, I think it’s the best of both worlds.
The big names in the Bay can take a breather, there is at least one gem in the team who appreciates his experience on site…
Indeed, the situation is quite tense around Jonathan Kuminga in particular, who is believed to have a total rift with Golden State’s coaching staff. Podziemski, however, does not seem to have these kinds of problems at the moment. On the contrary, he has lost none of his optimism and still believes that his franchise has what it takes to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy next June:
Above all, I want to win. I want to give them their fifth title to Steph, Dray and all those guys. Steve (Kerr), this will be his tenth. I want to win the title in my first season, like Jonathan and Moses (Moody) did in their first year.
The motivation is more than commendable, but it still seems rather compromised at this stage of the season…
Unlike Jonathan Kuminga who would be increasingly frustrated by his role with the Warriors, Brandin Podziemski sincerely appreciates his experience in the Bay, despite the disappointing collective results. We wish him to keep this joy as long as possible, he may need it greatly in the months to come.
