Abigail, the latest horror movie from Radio Silence – aka Scream VI directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, and producer Chad Villella – is now in theaters, and as long as you’re okay with major spoilers, you can check out a breakdown of the bloody – and we mean bloody – bonkers final act below.

The movie follows a group of criminals who kidnap a seemingly innocent 12-year-old ballerina named Abigail (Alisha Weir) to hold for ransom. The enigmatic organizer of the scheme, Lambert (Giancarlo Esposito), tells the crew that they will be given $50 million to share amongst them – as long as they manage to keep the kid in a creepy old manor for 24 hours.

Easy money… right? Well, there is the small matter of the youngster being a seemingly unstoppable vampire.

After toying with and brutally murdering several members of the group, Abigail reveals that the entire kidnapping was a ruse, and she lured them all to there to gain revenge for their meddling in the affairs of her crime boss father, the dreaded Kristof Lazar.

The gang is whittled down to two, Joey (Melissa Barrera) and Frank (Dan Stevens), who manage to escape to a secret control room, where we learn that Lambert has been monitoring them all along. It turns out that Abigail turned him two years prior, and he’s been disposing of her father’s enemies ever since.

Sick of the arrangement, Lambert offers to turn the more ruthless Frank so the two of them can take over the criminal empire. Frank agrees, but double-crosses Lambert as soon as his fangs come in by driving a stake through his heart. He then drains Abigail, and bites into Joey’s neck in an attempt to force her to do his bidding.

However, a weakened Abigail informs Frank that he hasn’t been a vampire long enough to “learn how to do all the cool shit,” and with Joey’s help, manages to stake the horrible bastard – who then explodes!

Abigail decides to let Joey live, but before she can leave, Lazar shows up. The character is played by Matthew Goode (Watchmen, Stoker), and it is heavily implied that he is, in fact, Dracula! The legendary Count moves to make a meal of Joey, but Abigail stands up to her dad and convinces him to release her.

An understandably shaken Joey drives away while sucking on a lollipop from her candy stash.

The door is definitely left open for a sequel, and Barrera would be more than happy to reprise her role – as long as Joey got to become a vampire!

“But she does get bit, so there is a possibility of, if the movie does well enough and they want to do a sequel, that there is a vampire Joey, if that happens,” Barrera tells IndieWire.com. “In my head, she gets home, she turns into a vampire, and then she starts hunting Abigail, ‘You lied to me. I helped you.’ That could be an interesting follow-up, and then they have to team up and defeat some other clan of vampires or something. That could definitely happen. I just want to wear the fangs and fly.”

From Radio Silence—the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett behind the terrifying modern horror hits Ready or Not, 2022’s Scream and last year’s Scream VI—comes a brash, blood-thirsty new vision of the vampire flick, written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground, Zombie Bashers) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Ready or Not).

Abigail also stars Melissa Barrera (Scream franchise, In the Heights), Dan Stevens (Gaslit, Legion), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Freaky), William Catlett (Black Lightning, True Story), Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Angus Cloud (Euphoria, North Hollywood) as the kidnappers.
