Bungling Army backtracks over Kate Middleton’s return after selling tickets to MoD event without Palace approval

It comes as King Charles appeared in good spirits as he returned to work today

THE army is set to remove a Kate Middleton claim from their website that was publicised without the palace’s approval, it’s reported.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Defence released tickets claiming Kate, 42, would review a dress rehearsal at Horse Guards Parade for the Trooping of the Colour on June 8.

It would be her first big public event since she underwent “planned major abdominal surgery” in January at the London Clinic.

But, it has since been revealed that the MoD put tickets, which are now sold out, for Kate’s event online before consulting Kensington Palace.

The Army is now set to remove the claim that the Princess of Wales will attend, it’s understood.

Event details were published due to Kate’s role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, the regiment which is trooping its colour this year.

However, it is believed that the Army did not seek approval from Kensington Palace before publishing the page, and the website is due to be updated shortly.

The MoD also announced King Charles would make an appearance for his official birthday parade the following week on June 15.

This means her attendance at the event has not been signed off officially, sparking confusion for thousands of Brits hoping to attend.

The Army’s website previously said: “Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales is identical to Trooping the Colour reviewed by His Majesty The King, with the exception that some additional mounted officers ride when His Majesty The King is present.

“Taking part will be over 1,400 soldiers of the Household Division and The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including 400 musicians from the Massed Bands, all of whom will parade on Horse Guards for the second of two formal reviews.

“Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales also includes 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards who will line the processional route along The Mall.

“The soldiers will be inspected by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, Colonel Irish Guards.”

In an earlier health update Kensington Palace said the princess would be unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.

The statement in January read: “The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.

“She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

It comes as the royal was seen yesterday for the first time since her hospital stay.

Kate was spotted in the passenger seat as mum Carole, 69, drove her in an Audi near Windsor Castle.

She was wearing sunglasses and appeared to be smiling slightly in her first sighting since her abdominal operation.

There has been rampant speculation online surrounding the royal’s whereabouts.

Conspiracy theories circulated after Prince William bowed out of a memorial service last week, where he was expected to give a reading.

And while Kensington Palace would not comment further on William’s reasoning, it said Kate was currently “doing well”.

Meanwhile, His Majesty appeared in good spirits as he returned to work this morning for a meeting with the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

The monarch smiled as he shook hands with the Chancellor, after having taken a step back from royal duties amid his cancer treatment.

Their meeting was held at Buckingham Palace in the Private Audience room, as is customary ahead of the Spring Budget tomorrow.

He put on a brave face amid the fallout after Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith spilled secrets on Celebrity Big Brother.

The royals and Middleton family were said to be terrified when The Sun revealed in January that he was in the reboot of the reality show.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Gary insisted he could never do anything to upset “beautiful” Kate, and slammed claims against her of racism as “bull***t”.
