BEING forced to sit through speeches on tables of people you don’t know can be one of the worst things about weddings.

But that ended up being the highlight for guests at Lena Dunham’s secret wedding on Saturday, as superstar Taylor Swift was the surprise guest and she gave a speech for the newlyweds.

I can reveal that US actress Lena, best known for her sitcom Girls, married English-Peruvian musician Luis Felber at the private members’ venue Union Club in London’s Soho.

A source at the wedding said: “Taylor showed up for Lena and gave a really sweet speech celebrating them as a couple and congratulating them.

“Lena looked so happy that she was there. Obviously Taylor has a crazy schedule and it’s not normal for her to just nip down to Soho, so she was thrilled she took the time out to come.

“There weren’t too many people there because the couple wanted to keep the wedding quiet, particularly because Taylor was there. Security was tight.

“The venue is surrounded by loads of nightclubs — and is across the road from a Wetherspoons — so it was just weird knowing that loads of people nearby were probably dancing to her music and had no idea that one of the world’s biggest stars was having a knees-up nearby.”

Lena only revealed she was dating Luis in April, when she said they had been together for “a few months.”

Taylor has been with her boyfriend, Brit actor Joe Alwyn, for five years.

Perhaps her pal’s nuptials will have given them some ideas for their own.

Come on Joe, it’s time to pop the question.

Tom shows off Zawe

TAYLOR isn’t the only one loved up, her ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston has made his red carpet debut with his girlfriend Zawe Ashton – two years after The Sun revealed they were an item.

Fresh Meat star Zawe moved from Kent to London to live with Tom and last year relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to be with him as he shot the Disney+ series Loki.

He had a whirlwind romance with Taylor in 2016 before they started dating their current partners.

It has worked out for everyone in the end.

I can reveal the Spandau Ballet star, above, has recorded new music over the past 12 months, which could result in his first solo album.

He had a slew of hits in the Eighties as part of Spandau Ballet with tunes like True and Gold.

A source teased: “Martin has loads of songs but just isn’t quite sure what to do with it all.

“Once restrictions eased he was back in the studio.

“One of the people he recorded with was due to be on tour with Niall Horan but because of the pandemic, it was axed.

“Now Martin is trying to decide whether to go it alone with the record or team up with other people.”

Martin and wife Shirlies’s 2019 album In The Swing Of It reached No12.

Hopefully, his next effort fares better than brother Gary’s last album, Insolo, which failed to break the Top 40 in July.

And it’s not just her fashion that can surprise – her baby news did too.

Ellie, who married Caspar Jopling in 2019, recently said of her pregnancy: “Most of my friends and family were shocked.

“It wasn’t on the cards, but it wasn’t off the cards either – we’d had such a wonderful first year of marriage.

“I didn’t tell anyone but then I got to a point when I was ready for people to know.”

FESTIVALS had an entire year off to work on improving their line-ups, but some still don’t seem to have been brought into the 21st century.

The Isle of Wight Festival yesterday announced a slew of acts who will perform there next June – with an abysmal total of three female performers.

It is 2021, surely organisers could be a little more equal and imaginative when putting their events together?

All nine headliners are men, including Lewis Capaldi and Lionel Richie, while out of the other ten acts announced, the only women are Sigrid and Mavis Staples, while Jacqui Abbott will be performing with Paul Heaton.

Plenty of women are worthy of headlining, such as Dua Lipa or Kylie Minogue, let alone appearing elsewhere on the line-up.

It’s a sorry state of affairs when things like this still need to be called out in this day and age.

The Brit singer songwriter, who stars in the initiative, dated the actor from 2018 to 2019. He denies the accusation, made last December.

He parted from his acting agency in February and has spent time getting inpatient care. Why he has been treated has not been revealed.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am today for the ten extra stadium shows across the UK and Ireland.

Among the additions for next spring are three extra shows in the Irish Republic, as well as Belfast, Cardiff and Sunderland.

Those are on top of the two extra shows Ed has announced at both Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and Wembley.

Craig’s Aston villain gag

DANIEL CRAIG jokingly branded Aston Martin “b******s” for not giving him a free motor following his final outing as 007.

Daniel, who will be at tonight’s world premiere of No Time To Die at London’s Royal Albert Hall, was asked if he’d been given one of the cars to keep. He replied: “They won’t let me take a car… b******s.”

He also claimed he got searched leaving the set to stop him nicking props.

Daniel said: “I get asked what memorabilia I’ve got all the time, they think I’m a kleptomaniac.”

He also teased fans of the films, saying: “I have not had many gadgets in my movies. People say, ‘Where are all the gadgets?’ but in this new movie we have got quite a few more. The Aston DB5 is the ultimate gadget.”
