Late Queen’s favourite £10 takeaway she’d send footman down the road to pick up

The former Queen enjoyed spending her holidays at Balmoral Castle in Scotland – and when she was there she would sometimes treat herself to a very British takeaway

The late Queen might have dined on some of the finest food in the world – but she was still partial to the occasional takeaway.

It has been revealed that the former monarch would always order the same tasty treat when she stayed at her beloved Scottish retreat, Balmoral – and would send a footman to collect her order.

An insider previously confirmed to Fabulous: “She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”

Her Majesty also enjoyed a kebab in the past, according to Hello! magazine. Royal correspondent Jayne Seymour revealed that Krazy Kebabs takeaway in Swaffham got a delivery order by telephone to Sandringham House.

The delivery driver told Jayne: “I assumed the food was for a servant. But when I got to the entrance a butler took it and said it was for the Queen. I hope she enjoyed it – we are known for the best kebabs in Norfolk.”

Prince William, meanwhile, is known to be a fan of the fast food chain Nandos. During the BBC documentary, Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, which aired in May 2020, the royal stated: “Everyone loves a Nando’s,” before adding that it had been a while since he had treated himself to a burger or pitta.

He joked: “In fact, the policeman who’s on with me again [today], he’s the one who gets me the Nando’s the whole time. It’s his fault.”

And back in 2017, Princess Kate revealed her number one takeaway while speaking to BBC Radio 1 with Prince William. Kate said: “Curry, definitely,” before clarifying that William wouldn’t eat it with her as he is not a fan of spicy food.

The couple added: “It doesn’t usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up,” before jokingly adding “not ourselves!”

In an interview with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, Queen Camilla revealed her favourite takeaway is a classic British staple. “Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper,” she said. “That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips.”

And King Charles seems to be a fan of pizza. He previously revealed his favourite topping in November 2019, while on a visit to Scotland. Charles laughed as he was presented with a Margarita pizza from a member of the public as he greeted crowds in St Boswells.

Chef Erminio Di Meo told the Press Association: “I wanted to give him the pizza as he is such a big part of this country. He was curious, he smiled and I said ‘it’s a margherita’. I believe the Prince said ‘it’s my favourite’.”
