Alison Hammond REVEALS why she’s CHARGING her son rent – despite being MULTI-MILLIONAIRE
This Morning’s Alison Hammond has revealed the modest rent amount she charges her son every month to ensure he ‘pays his way’, despite her being a multi-millionaire.
Alison’s 19-year-old son Aidan – an aspiring DJ – lives with her at her huge London home.
This week Alison admitted she keeps her boy grounded by making him pay for his keep at her six figure mansion in the capital. The reveal came during a discussion on actor Jeff Goldblum who said this week he will not be ‘bankrolling’ his children and won’t leave them a penny in his will as he finds inheritance ‘distasteful.’
The Hollywood star said his two young sons, who are eight and six years old, will need to find their own path to financial independence. “It’s an important thing to teach kids,” said the 71-year-old. “I’m not going to do it for you. And you’re not going to want me to do it for you.”
Alison said she wholeheartedly agreed with Jeff’s sentiment and was teaching her boy similar life lessons. Speaking on This Morning, Alison said: “I’m going into a new phase of life guys where, wait for it… my son is paying rent.”
“I’m really enjoying it!” Alison added. “He’s got to earn his keep,” she insisted.Guest Anushka Asthana, 44, said her parents never let her pay rent and still pay for her meals when they dine out together. “Do you never feel like you should pay your way?” a shocked Alison asked. Anushka said her folks would never let her pay but Alison told her “You should put the money on the table.”
Sharing her own experience, Alison said charging Aidan a modest amount was ‘teaching him’ that nothing in life comes for free. “He’s getting a good deal! I’m in my new house,” she added. Alison revealed she had moved into her ‘dream’ mansion earlier this year.
The former Big Brother star then explained that she charges Aidan £40 a month which he gives to her in cash and she uses the money to get beauty treatments.
“Can I move in with you!? £40 a month!” Gyles Brandreth exclaimed. “It’s just to get him into a routine and I will hit him with a bigger bill next year,” said Alison
Speaking on the Parenting Hell podcast, hosted by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe, Alison spoke about her new arrangement. “I absolutely love it. I go and get my eyebrows done, I go and get my nails done, and I pay in cash – perfect.”
However that’s not all, as Aiden also watches the football through SkyTV something his famous mum charges him a further £30 a month for.
Alison who is estimated to have a net worth as high as £4 million said she thinks it’s important for her only child to learn how to “pay his way”, while she also jokingly referred to herself as “the landlady”.

During the same chat, Alison broke her silence on her new romance with younger boyfriend David Putman and revealed that he and Aiden have met and that her son “really liked him.”
It was first reported that Alison and David were dating in April. David, who stands at 6ft 10in, is known to have trained as a body therapist, and boasts a range of skills including “classic, lymphatic drainage, anti-cellulite, wraps, facial massage”, reports the Mirror.
It was through his work that he first encountered the TV star, who allegedly booked in for a £150 massage last year.
According to The Sun, Alison would regularly book in for massages with David in between her busy filming schedule. Having formed a friendship, soon romance blossomed and the pair reportedly began dating towards the end of 2023.
David is said to be “not bothered by fame” and would not be concerned about the 23-year age gap between him and rumoured love interest Alison.
A pal told The Sun: “David is a very quiet, unassuming and thoughtful person who likes to play the guitar. He’s the strong, silent type, not a pushover, but not chatty like Alison.”
They continued: “In that sense they’re perfect for each other and to David age is just a number. He’s not bothered by fame, he probably didn’t even know who Alison was when they first met.”
