THE BBC axed celebrity adventure series Trailblazers after two of its main stars fell out during filming.

Mel B and Emily Atack clashed during the first series, on a trek across the Rocky Mountains with Ruby Wax. The 2022 show saw the stars follow in the footsteps of female Victorian explorer Isabella Bird. But a source claims Mel, 43, and 34-year-old Emily didn’t get on – and the atmosphere in the US became “frosty” and “quite tense” after an argument halfway through filming.

The insider said: “Once on set, their personalities definitely clashed and there was one row that was witnessed by several crew members. There was no way back from that at the time.” A second source added: “ BBC bosses had hoped they could create a returning celebrity gang show in the style of Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix on ITV – but it just didn’t work out.

“Because Mel and Emily really did not get on, it was tough drumming up that natural chemistry. There were high hopes for the show but it won’t be coming back.” The first “trip of a lifetime” for the celebrity trio saw them take on a series of physical challenges in the Rockies, where intrepid explorer Isabella trekked more than 800 miles in 1873.

The first source added: “The trip was not just a jolly for Mel, Emily and Ruby – some of the challenges were quite tough. It was a bit of a pressure cooker environment but Mel and Emily have seen each other since and things were fine between them.”
