Phil Vickery has uploaded a cryptic post about “messing up something good,” with him having shared it shortly after his ex Fern Britton’s recent stint on Celebrity Big Brother.
The chef, 62, took to his Instagram Story on Saturday with a quote about moving on from a situation. The post read: “A lot of people mess up something good by looking for something better, to end up with something worse.”
This Morning contributor Phil was previously married to the ITV show’s former host Fern, now 66. The pair got married in 2000 but announced their separation in 2020, with her saying that they’d had many “happy years” together.
Two years after the news of their separation, it was reported that Phil had been seen kissing Lorraine Stanton, who was described as Fern’s “best friend” at the time. It was claimed that Fern was “shocked” and found the situation “awkward,” but she later seemingly shut down such rumours.
Since their split, Fern has spoken about her marriage to Phil. She once told Woman & Home magazine: “We simply needed to follow our own paths. Over time we realised we weren’t necessarily having the kind of life we once did. It seemed right to say ‘thank you’ and move on.” She added at the time that she has a “good friendship” with her ex Phil.

Fern and Phil are parents to daughter Winnie Vickery, 22, together. Fern also has three children from her first marriage to Clive Jones, 75. The former couple are parents to twins Harry Jones and Jack Jones, 29, as well as Grace Jones, 26.

Phil’s post comes just over a week since his ex Fern reached the final of Celebrity Big Brother, with her having placed fifth on the ITV show. She had spoken about love whilst in the Big Brother house earlier this month in a conversation with Louis Walsh, 71. It came after the pair teased that they have a different perspective on life now.
She said: “I’m ready to slow down. I mean, like you, I’ve been working solidly since I was 20.” Her co-star Louis replied: “You realise what life is and realise ‘why haven’t I done this before?’. Why didn’t I go there? Why didn’t I do that?”
Fern appeared to be in agreement and Louis went on to state: “And you’re young, you’re young-ish. You have fun. If you pick the right person, you’ll have great fun. You might fall in love. You don’t know who you’ll meet.” Fern however told him in the scene: “I don’t want to fall in love again. “
