Celebrity Big Brother star Nikita Kuzmin revealed he was slammed for not returning home to Ukraine to ‘fight for his country’.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, 26, discussed the Russian invasion of his home country and how he struggled with whether to return home or stay in England. During Friday night’s episode of Big Brother, the star and the housemates discussed multiple topics during their ‘podcast’ chat in the shed.
Speaking to the housemates, he explained: “It happened 24th February 2022,” while David commented: “When Russia invaded” before Fern added: “Yeah Ukraine.” Back in the shed, Nikita said: “I just remember my first instinct was to forget everything go for it, go back, knowing you’re not coming back. I still get messages today.”
Nikita explained how every time he posts on Instagram, he gets messages from trolls slamming his decision to stay in the UK and work. “I just post anything about Strictly and the only reply which I get is: ‘Go back home and fight for your country’,” the professional dancer revealed.

Back in 2022, Nikita opened up about the heartbreaking situation back home. Appearing on Loose Women, he said: “I call my grandparents every single day and I talk to them. It’s very important for me to know what’s happening especially since the war restarted even harsher now, two weeks ago.
“So I’m trying to keep my head clear on what I need to do and I’m trying to help my country and my family at the same time.”
On Friday’s live eviction, viewers voted for the stars they wanted out of the house. Levi Roots was the first celebrity to be booted out in the double eviction, followed by Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu as confirmed by hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu. Up for the chop were David Potts, Ekin-Su, Fern Britton, Levi and Louis Walsh.
During the episode, every time hosts Will and AJ mentioned Ekin-Su and Louis, the crowd outside booed. However, there were mainly cheers for Levi, Fern and David. As Levi was voted out, he said his goodbyes and was met by a warm crowd leaving him thrilled. AJ and Will then went back to the house and shocked the stars, confirming another exit was coming.
When Ekin-Su was announced as the second person to be evicted from the house, she looked shocked at being named while the audience booed at her. As she walked out of the house, the hosts welcomed her and told her to hug her family.
