Cole. Its effects are still prevalent to this day, as rappers are choosing sides and suffering the consequences of their allegiances. The Game has been a longtime friend and collaborator of the 6 God; however, he and K. Dot come from the same hometown and musical family tree. While the “Hate It Or Love It” rapper may not have been the first person to come to mind when considering who rappers would align with, his history with both acts makes his ultimate decision intriguing. The former G-Unit rapper posted a video of himself listening to the Toronto superstar’s 2015 record “Energy,” where he coincidentally raps “I got enemies, got a lot of enemies” and “I got rap ni**as that I gotta act like I like/ But my actin’ days are over, fuck them ni**as for life,” the first half of which Game used as the post’s caption.
People interpreted this post as The Game picking Drake’s side, especially after the 6 God liked the post, and the supposed selection was not received well. “You going against Compton????” one person asked. “Man if you go against Compton I’m losing
all respect,” another fan said. “Damn… this ni**a so mad at [Dr.] Dre he going against Compton for likes,” another fan wrote, referring to Game’s falling out with the Aftermath Entertainment founder.
Drake added a new chapter to his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar and several other rappers this past weekend with his diss track “Push Ups (Drop & Give Me 50).” He addressed Lamar’s contract situation with Interscope, made jokes about his height, and threw shots at Future, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, The Weekend, Ja Morant, and more.
Rick Ross quickly responded with his diss track “Champagne Moments,” making fun of Drake for being a “white boy,” accusing him of getting plastic surgery, and alleging that he ordered a cease & desist for French Montana to pull a feature verse from his latest album Mac & Cheese 5.
This is the most action this growing feud has seen since Kendrick Lamar appeared on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” from We Don’t Trust You. J. Cole fired the next shot on “7 Minute Drill” from his latest project Might Delete Later, though he apologized days later at Dreamville Festival and has since removed the track from all streaming services.
Future and Metro fanned the flames this past weekend on We Still Don’t Trust You, which was host to diss-laden guest appearances from The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky, plus an eyebrow-raising verse from Cole.
“They could never diss my brothers, baby/ When they got leaks in they operation/ I thank God that I never signed my life away/ And we never do the big talk/ They shooters makin’ TikToks/ Got us laughin’ in the Lambo,” The Weeknd sang on “All To Myself.” It seems like more artists have things to get off of their chests regarding Drake, and Future and Metro have no issue giving them the platform to do so.
