As reported, the Boston Celtics and guard Jrue Holiday have agreed on a four-year, $135 million deal, the team announced on Thursday.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed the four-year, $135 million extension will commence next season. Holiday declined the $37.3M player option he had in place for the 2024-25 season to secure this long-term deal.

Per ESPN’s Zach Lowe report, five-time All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors drew close attention to the Celtics guard recent contract extension.

On the latest episode of The Lowe Post podcast, Lowe revealed that both Thompson and the Warriors “took note” of Holiday’s four-year, $135 million extension.

Thompson said on Holiday’s four-year extension,

“Klay is going to draw interest around the league. He’s gonna want a fair salary. I can tell you for sure, both sides took note of that Jrue Holiday extension with the Celtics for four years, 135 million.”

Holiday has started in all 68 games with the Celtics this season and is averaging 12.5 points, a career-high 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 32.9 minutes per game.

Shooting guard Klay Thompson will hit unrestricted free agency in the off-season. He spent his entire career with Golden State after being selected with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2011 draft.

During the 2023-24 season, Thompson played out the remainder of a five-year, $190 million contract signed with the team in 2019.

Shams Charania of The Athletic earlier revealed that Thompson rejected a two-year, $48 million extension from the Warriors during the 2023 off-season.

He scored an average of 17.9 points per game, representing his worst mark since 2013, and shot a relatively low 38.7 percent from three-point range, the second-lowest percentage of his career.
