CHELSEA could reignite their interest in Neymar with Paris Saint-Germain set to go in a new direction.

The star forward joined PSG in 2017 following a world record £198million move from Barcelona.

The Brazil international is still among the Parisians’ top earners but could be on his way out, even though his contract runs until 2025.

According to The Mirror, that is because the 31-year-old has undergone another season blighted by injury as he is currently sidelined for the rest of the campaign after shattering his ankle.

Neymar’s future is therefore uncertain with PSG set to take a new direction that will see them pulling the plug on high-profile deals.

That could see Chelsea reignite their interest after owner Todd Boehly held a meeting earlier this year to check on the Brazilian’s availability.

The Blues could make another approach in the coming summer transfer window.

Reports suggest there is at least one more Premier League club also keeping tabs on the Barcelona hero.

But Neymar is not expected to have many options if he leaves the reigning French champions due to his high salary, release clause, injury record and advanced age.

But PSG are also facing the prospect of losing Lionel Messi as well as Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Messi’s contract runs out in June with Barcelona showing a strong interest in re-signing their club legend, despite their financial woes.

PSG are set for an new approach that will see them signing the best French talents and promoting their standout youth products from their state-of-the-art academy.

That could also see Mbappe moving away as his lucrative deal comes up next year, with an option to extend until 2025.

The star striker came close to joining Real Madrid in 2021 and the same drama could unfold in 2024.

That is unless the France international accepts the option to extend or the club manages to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free.
