Gerard Pique reveals Messi's thoughts on Ronaldo that surprises football fans

Pique was asked if Lionel Messi thought of Cristiano Ronaldo during the competitive days in La Liga.

The Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo rivalry was an epic time of football as the two played in the two biggest football clubs. Lionel Messi in FC Barcelona was a perfect match, while Cristiano Ronaldo shined at Real Madrid and became arguably the best player in the history of that club. Every week in La Liga, football fans were paying attention to what Ronaldo and Messi did on the pitch. The El Clasico felt like the Champions League finals as it displayed two of the best teams in the world, which included the two best players in the world. Gerard Pique spoke about when Messi and Ronaldo were on top of the football scene and revealed what Messi thought of Ronaldo.

In an interview with TalkSportPique was asked if Messi at Barcelona was concerned and competitive with Ronaldo’s performances at Real Madrid. Pique said, “No, Messi was not that type of person. Rather, he was a player who focused on the team, even though he was on the front page of all newspapers, radio, and television, but in the end, he was close to all of us and was only focused on winning titles such as the Champions League and the rest, and in the end because he is the best. He was winning the Ballon d’Or, but it wasn’t something he prioritized.”

Pique also mentioned playing Ronaldo at Manchester United and said, “When I was playing with young Cristiano Ronaldo at Man United, he was a winger and was skillful. When he joined Real, he changed and focused more on scoring goals because that was the only way he could get in a conversation that involves Messi.”

Pique gives his honest thoughts on Erling Haaland

Gerard Pique: "I think Erling Haaland has a lot of potential. But to reach the level of Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo, it's a long way to go. He has to win

Pique was asked about Erling Haaland’s level, and he said, “Haaland? I think he has a lot of potential but to arrive at the level of Messi and Cristiano, it’s a long way to go. He has to win so many titles; he has to do this for 15, 17, and 20 years, and this is not easy also. He’s very young, very promising, and he has a lot of potential, but still, I think he’s far away from those two.”
