Words weren’t necessary to understand what the Golden State Warriors felt as they emptied the bench. Klay Thompson’s deflated state spoke the loudest. With his shoulders down and zipped lips, Thompson was hurting – an emotion that isn’t synonymous with the Warriors. But Tuesday night warranted a change, the Sacramento Kings broke the Warriors dynasty and for the Dubnation, life is going to change. Now, Thompson enters free agency and, as rumors suggest, he is on his way to play for the Orlando Magic. But his crew refuses to digest this and Stephen Curry is particularly not worried about the trade.

Regardless of the outcome this season, Stephen Curry believes that the dynasty hasn’t ended. The confidence behind this claim comes from years of experience and understanding that the league has changed. He added that while the summer is bound to be chaotic with front-office conversations, the reality of playing away from Klay and Draymond Green is impossible.

In the post-game interview, he said, “I can never see myself not with (Klay and Draymond)… We’ve experienced so much together. At the end of the day, I know they want to win. I know I want to win. That’s all I’m worried about.” Following this, Coach Steve Kerr expressed his desperation to retain Klay Thompson. He said, “I know I speak for everyone in the organization: we want him back.” Draymond Green quickly echoed the same emotion.

While discussing the future, he expressed confidently, “I don’t think there’s any scenario where Klay leaves and that’s the best decision for the team.”

Klay Thompson To Enter Free Agency

Throughout the season, rumors about Klay Thompson’s future have been rampant. The Athletic initially reported that Thompson and the Warriors couldn’t agree to a deal, pushing the discussion towards the post-season. The Athletic further added, “It’s clear their relationship has suffered some strain along the way.”

The rumors of this alleged strain doubled after Thompson appeared on Draymond Green’s podcast. In the episode, Thompson stated that he wanted to re-sign with the team that drafted him. However, the following statement led to uncertainty around the free agency saga

Thompson said, “Yes, I want to re-sign with the [Warriors], but I also have to prioritize my mental health and lay out what is important to me at this point in my career.” He added, “I haven’t given it much thought. Because if I start thinking about July 1, then I’m just doing myself a disservice.”

But the time has come. Klay has to think about the future. Orlando Magic is probably on the cards, and so is a potential deal with the Warriors. As Curry said, this summer will be chaotic, and all fans can do is hope for the best. Klay Thompson’s fraternity wants him to stay with the Warriors, but do you think he will?
