Roronoa Zoro hasn’t eaten any Devil Fruit, but if he did, he should consider the best fruits for his skills—such as Onigumo’s or the More-More Fruit.
Roronoa Zoro is one of the most popular characters in One Piece. He is Luffy’s first mate, and his dream is to become the world’s strongest swordsman. Zoro has come a long way since his first appearance, and he has defeated some powerful opponents, including Daz Bonez, Pica, and King. Unlike most well-known pirates, Zoro does not have a Devil Fruit power, which is unfortunate because there are several Devil Fruits that would make him even stronger.
Zoro is a master swordsman, and he is one of the few people in the world who can use all three types of Haki. He can also imbue his swords with Conqueror’s Haki — which puts him at a completely different level of skill and strength. He would be able to combine this Haki with several Devil Fruit powers.
Updated on April 9th, 2024 by Louis Kemner: This list of potential Zoro Devil Fruits has been updated to adhere to CBR’s current publication standards. By now, it’s well-established that Roronoa Zoro doesn’t need a Devil Fruit to become the world’s strongest swordsman and surpass the hero/villain Dracule Mihawk, and he might even be too proud to eat one. But if Zoro were to eat a fruit, these ten stand out as the most compatible Devil Fruits for his fighting style.
The Twinkle-Twinkle Fruit, Bird-Bird Fruit Model: Phoenix, and Mochi-Mochi Fruit are among the best Devil Fruits that could beef Sanji up.

Vice Admiral Onigumo
“Robin’s Liberation! Luffy vs Lucci: Peak of the Decisive Battle”
Onigumo is a Marine vice admiral who appeared during the Enies Lobby Arc, and he showcased a currently unknown Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a spider or human-spider hybrid. This may not seem like the kind of power Zoro would want, but it would make him a deadlier fighter.
This Devil Fruit would allow Zoro to grow three pairs of spider-like arms. With such a power, Zoro would be able to wield nine swords at once instead of three. He would be able to create a new Nine Sword Style. Zoro could gather more high-quality blades, and he could imbue each of them with Haki. Amusingly, that would make Roronoa Zoro similar to one of his first serious opponents in One Piece, the Fish-Man swordsman Hatchan, whom Zoro fought back in the Arlong Park story arc.

10 One Piece Devil Fruits That Can Beat Gear 5 Luffy
Devil Fruits, like the Sand-Sand Fruit and the Hobby-Hobby Fruit, can counter Gear 5 and might even render it useless.
Roronoa Zoro has lost several swords over the years, but if he had the Arms-Arms Fruit, he would always have a blade at his disposal. This Paramecia would give him the ability to turn any part of his body into a weapon. If he wanted to, Zoro could turn his hands or arms into fully functional firearms, but he would prefer to create swords and other bladed weapons instead.
Zoro could turn his arms into razor-sharp blades with the Arms-Arms Fruit, and he could do the same thing to his legs. If he wanted to, he could turn his entire upper body into a large sword, but that might be a bit impractical. He would also be able to imbue all of his blade arms with Armament or Conqueror’s Haki. The main obstacle to Zoro using this fruit is a personal one since Zoro is proud of his three legendary swords and would be reluctant to trade them for weapons made by the Arms-Arms Fruit, no matter how convenient those body-weapons would be.
8The Chop-Chop Fruit Would Make Zoro Immune To Cutting Attacks

Buggy the Clown
“Who Will Win? Showdown Between the True Powers of the Devil Fruit!”
Buggy the Clown may be cowardly and weak, but he possesses a very useful Devil Fruit. The Chop-Chop Fruit gives its user the power to split their body into pieces that they can control. This power is great for sneak attacks and backstabs, but that is not Zoro’s style, so he would likely never use it in such a way.
If Zoro were to eat the Chop-Chop Fruit, he would become immune to every form of cutting and piercing attack. The user will be able to completely avoid a slash even if it is imbued with Haki. Not even Mihawk would be able to cut him, but Zoro would still be able to injure him. The Chop-Chop Fruit is an example of a Devil Fruit that’s not very strong on its own, but depending on who’s wielding it, the fruit can be quite formidable. If Zoro combined it with Haki as a Color of Arms Haki user and his expert swordsmanship, he could use the Chop-Chop Fruit’s powers in ways Buggy never could.

The Rust-Rust Fruit also appeared during the Enies Lobby Buster Call, and it was used to destroy Yubashiri, or one of the 50 Skillful Grade Swords. It was also the sword that Zoro obtained in Loguetown. As its name suggests, this Paramecia gives its user the power to rust metallic objects.
This power works with direct physical contact, and as a result, the user is immune to swords and other metallic weapons. Once they touch a sword, the weapon will immediately rust and disintegrate. With this power, Zoro can counter every swordsman he faces, and he can theoretically destroy any sword, even if it is imbued with Haki. Knowing Zoro, however, he would feel terrible using the Rust-Rust Fruit to destroy legendary and well-made swords like Yoru, the trademark weapon of Dracule Mihawk. Rusting a Marine grunt’s blade is one thing, but ruining Yoru would almost feel like a crime to a sword enthusiast like Roronoa Zoro.

Byrnndi World
“3D2Y”
The world of One Piece is full of powerful Devil Fruits, including a few that could potentially Awaken in the series’ final saga.
The More-More Fruit appeared in a One Piece filler episode, but just because it is a non-canon power does not mean that Zoro cannot benefit from it. It allows the user to amplify the size and speed of any object they touch. These physical traits can be amplified up to 100 times.
The user can amplify their own speed as well, and in doing so, the force behind their attacks becomes even greater. With this power, Zoro would be able to overpower other swordsmen during a clash. His opponents may not even be able to keep up with the speed of his attacks. That, combined with Color of Arms Haki, would make Roronoa Zoro incredibly powerful in melee combat, so it’s a shame that the More-More Fruit isn’t canon and this isn’t a real option for Zoro or any other potential wielder.
5The Op-Op Fruit Would Allow Zoro To Cut With Surgical Precision

Op-Op Fruit
Paramecia
Trafalgar D. Water Law, unnamed doctor
“The Time is Ticking Down! Seize the Ope-Ope no Mi!”
The Op-Op Fruit gives its user the ability to manipulate the fabric of space within a designated spherical area. The user can teleport around the area and control every object within the area. They can also disassemble and reassemble objects however they want. This is why the Op-Op Fruit is considered one of the strongest Devil Fruits in One Piece.
With the Op-Op Fruit, Zoro would be able to slice through his enemies with surgical precision, and he would be able to do this from afar. Zoro was able to cut off one of the horns of the Skull Dome during the Onigashima raid, but with the Op-Op Fruit, he would be able to cut an entire island in half if he created a large enough area. Aside from that, Roronoa Zoro could use the Op-Op Fruit’s remarkable powers to capture people with ease, splitting their bodies into parts that can be conveniently restrained.
4The Strong-Strong Fruit Would Give Zoro Superhuman Strength

Strong-Strong Fruit
Paramecia
Jesus Burgess
“The Winner Takes All! Law vs. Blackbeard!”
The Strong-Strong Fruit is currently in the possession of Jesus Burgess of the Blackbeard Pirates, and it suits him very well. It is a Paramecia that boosts its user’s physical strength to superhuman levels. With this strength, someone like Zoro would be able to effortlessly lift and throw gigantic objects.
Zoro puts a lot of strength behind his attacks, and if he had the Strong-Strong Fruit, his attacks would be even more fierce — especially if he were to combine that strength with his advanced Armament or Conqueror’s Haki. Depending on the opponent, Zoro would probably be able to break whatever sword he clashes with. This fruit would give Zoro the edge over physically powerful opponents of all kinds, but even so, its gifts are largely redundant with what Zoro can already do, so if Zoro had other options for a Devil Fruit, he would choose them over the Strong-Strong Fruit.
3The Tremor-Tremor Fruit Would Allow Zoro’s Slashes To Produce Powerful Quakes

“The Beginning of the War! Ace and Whitebeard’s Past!”
Although there are only three main types of Devil Fruits, they can further be categorized into a bunch of subtypes, making a total of 7 classes.
Following Gol D. Roger’s death, Captain Whitebeard was considered the strongest pirate in the world, and he held onto that title for years thanks to his Haki and Devil Fruit power. The Tremor-Tremor Fruit allows its users to create powerful quakes through any medium, including the air. This ability allegedly has the power to destroy the entire world.
The user can focus these quakes into their fists like bubbles, but they can also focus quakes into their weapons. If Zoro could do this, his sword attacks would be far more deadly. He would likely be able to instantly shatter his opponent’s sword, and his flying slashes would be able to destroy entire islands. Whitebeard died at Marineford, so his Devil Fruit would have regrown somewhere a new user like Zoro could have found it, but first, Captain Blackbeard used unknown means to steal the Tremor-Tremor Fruit for himself. That led to some intriguing fan theories on how Blackbeard managed such a feat.

Urouge
“Overwhelming! The Marine Combat Weapon Pacifista”
Roronoa Zoro tends to take a lot of damage when fighting strong opponents in one-on-one bouts, but if he had Urouge’s Devil Fruit, he would be able to take advantage of that damage. This unnamed Paramecia gives its users the power to convert any damage they sustain into physical strength.
Once activated, this power will cause the user’s body to enlarge and their muscles will expand. Zoro sustained immense damage during the Onigashima raid, and if he had been able to convert that damage into strength, he probably would have been able to defeat King a lot easier. Zoro will likely sustain damage when he duels Mihawk again, so this Devil Fruit power would be helpful.

Dice-Dice Fruit
Paramecia
Daz Bonez/Mr. 1
“At Spiders Cafe – The Enemy Ringleaders Meet at 8 o’clock”
One of Roronoa Zoro’s defining moments came when he defeated Daz Bonez, a former bounty hunter who possesses the Dice-Dice Fruit. It was one of Zoro’s best fights, especially at the time, when he fought his true equal in a blade vs blade clash in Alubarna’s streets. The Dice-Dice Fruit gives its user the ability to turn any part of their body into a razor-sharp steel blade. These blades can cut through almost anything, and they can form weapons such as blades and even rapidly-spinning saws.
If Zoro had this power, his body would be immune to most slicing attacks, though he could still be hurt by attacks that are strong enough to cut through steel. This would be very helpful for Zoro, especially when fighting other master swordsmen. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda himself has stated that if Zoro were to have a Devil Fruit, it would be the Dice-Dice Fruit.
