The Gorosei have been incredibly important in the Egghead Island arc, much to the surprise of the fans. No fan of the story was expecting for the Five Elders to be present on Egghead at all. It was a shocking turn of events when, shortly before Vegapunk’s message was revealed to the entire world, the Five Elders decided to make an appearance in an attempt to stop the broadcast.

This changed the entire equation and put the Straw Hat Pirates in even greater danger. However, the Straw Hat Pirates and everyone else on the island are actually dealing with the threat of the Five Elders very well. They have proven themselves to be capable of resisting the assault, and the Five Elders have largely failed at stopping the broadcast, which is now already out in the open. From here onwards, fans might wonder as to what is next for the Five Elders, and that is precisely what’s being discussed here.

The Gorosei are incredibly powerful individuals in the world of One Piece. These individuals sit at the top of the world, and above all, they are Imu’s very own personal guard. The Five Elders are, thus, enemies of the highest order, as they need to be. Their strength was always theorized to be incredibly high, however, fans did not get a proper look at their powers until much later in the story. Once the Egghead Island arc began, St Jaygarcia Saturn made his appearance on Egghead, and it is through him that fans got their first glimpse of the power of an Elder.

Saturn was able to hold his own against many powerful pirates in combat, and even took on Luffy, who was utilizing the power of Gear 5 all along. After Saturn, other members of the Elders also came to Egghead, and each of them impressed in their own ways. While Nusjuro showcased his incredible speed and immense power, Warcury showed his tremendous durability and strength. All of them got the hype that they deserved. The Five Elders have been thoroughly overwhelming On Egghead Island, however, despite their tremendous strength, which far surpasses that of the Straw Hat Pirates, they have failed here. This is simply down to the fact that Vegapunk has managed to outsmart them and they couldn’t do anything to stop the broadcast that he put out.

That is not to say that the Five Elders are weaklings. Fans should keep in mind that in terms of pure combat ability, the only one capable of standing up to the Five Elders on Egghead is Luffy. In fact, even Luffy would likely fail in battle against the Elders. This is likely down to the fact that the elders are immortal and even if Luffy were to damage them, in the end, he would run out of stamina while they would just regenerate.

The Failure Of The Gorosei On Egghead

The Five Elders Failed Most Of Their Objectives On Egghead

The failure of the Gorosei on Egghead Island has been absolutely immense. These individuals hold tremendous strength up their sleeve but despite that, it goes without saying that they have failed greatly here. This is simply down to the fact that they have been unable to do anything about Vegapunk’s message. Broadly speaking, the Five Elders had four major objectives on Egghead Island. The first objective that they had was to kill Vegapunk. This objective was successfully met. Saint Saturn was the one who stabbed Vegapunk first of all, and later, Kizaru finished the job that he started. Their first objective was successful and in that regard, they did their job very well.

The second objective was to stop the broadcast from coming out after Vegapunk died. In this regard, the Five Elders have greatly failed. Even though Mars tried his best to find the transponder snail that was putting out the signal, he was not able to do anything about it and in the end, was fooled by the trickery of Vegapunk.

She is no more than a little 12-year-old, and you gave her the power to destroy nations. Your defiance is as foolish as it is insolent, Vegapunk!

This was the biggest failure that the Five Elders endured on Egghead, and they were simply unable to do anything about it, other than hope and pray that Vegapunk does not reveal too much information to the outside world.

Thirdly, the Five Elders wanted to kill the likes of Kuma and Luffy. This is down to the fact that Kuma holds the blood of the Buccaneers, while Luffy is the wielder of the power of the Sun God, Nika. These two were individuals that they had to eliminate. There can also be made a case for Nico Robin to be a massive threat to the Five Elders and the World Government’s integrity in general. In all these goals, the Five Elders failed once again. Of course, they still have a chance to eliminate them, however, fans know that they will fail greatly in that regard.

The fourth objective of the Five Elders on Egghead was to secure the Mother Flame. Of course, fans know that York can make Mother Flame for the Elders and Imu. However, the only place where Mother Flame can be made is in Egghead’s laboratory. As such, fans need to keep in mind that this is yet another objective that is currently hanging in balance. The Five Elders could very well fail this objective if the laboratory is utterly destroyed, or if York simply refuses to cooperate with them.

Taking all things into consideration, the Five Elders and the World Government, in general, were able to fulfill only one of their goals and that was to kill Vegapunk. However, even that objective doesn’t hold much weight because the other satellites are currently alive. For instance, if Lilith were to make it out of Egghead, then Vegapunk lives through her and it would be yet another humiliating defeat for the Elders.

What Will Happen To The Gorosei On Egghead Island?

The Performance Of The Gorosei Might Change The Fans’ Perception Of Them

It is difficult to predict what exactly will happen to the Five Elders from here onwards. At the very least, fans can rest assured that the Five Elders will be given some grace by Oda. For one, Oda will most likely continue to establish the fact that the Five Elders are overwhelmingly superior in terms of combat ability. This is one aspect of the story that Oda absolutely cannot make them feel inferior in. This will also set them up as a bigger threat later down the line. The Five Elders will, at the same time, be happy with the fall of Vegapunk. However, Vegapunk’s knowledge will be out in the world already and that will be a massive failure on their part.

They will have failed to stop Luffy and Robin, and much of what they can take from this hinges on York. If the Five Elders are able to secure the Mother Flame and York with it, then they will consider it at least a partial success. If the factory is destroyed, then this will be an utter defeat for the Five Elders and a shameful one at that, which means they would have to go back to Marijoa utterly outclassed.
