One Piece: The High Power Consumption of The Gear 5

Highlights

Luffy faces a tough battle in Egghead against marines and powerful individuals like Kizaru and Saturn.

Gear 5 drains Luffy’s energy quickly, making it difficult for him to hold his own against Saturn and Kizaru.
The future of One Piece could be impacted if Luffy is defeated, leading to a major event involving the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Luffy defeated Egghead One Piece

Monkey D. Luffy is the protagonist of One Piece and, as fans already know, the man who aims to be the Pirate King. Luffy has already made great progress on his journey to becoming the Pirate King, having recently become a Sea Yonko as well.

Currently, Luffy is among the strongest characters in the world, having acquired a bounty of 3 billion fruits after defeating Kaido as well.

Luffy is in Egghead at the moment, and here things seem quite complicated for him. For starters, Luffy is fighting a giant fleet of marines, led by Admiral Kizaru.

To make matters worse, one of the Five Elders, Saint Saturn, is also present on the island. This war will be very difficult for Luffy to navigate and it is entirely possible that he will end up losing here.

Luffy vs Saturn and Kizaru in Egghead

Luffy is currently involved in a high-level battle in Egghead. Fans have already seen him fight the likes of Kizaru once.

Even before this, Luffy fought Rob Lucci and some Seraphim as well, which weakened him considerably in terms of stamina.

Of course, at this point, Luffy is a total powerhouse and, as seen in the previous chapter of the story, he is raring to go. Luffy has already entered combat with Kizaru and Saint Saturn as well. Having surprised Kizaru, Luffy launched a powerful Dawn Gatling at Saint Saturn, sending him flying. However, the battle here is not over yet.

Luffy will definitely have to fight Saturn once again, and to make matters worse, he might have to fight Saint Saturn and Kizaru at the same time.

This appears to be the case now, as Sanji will likely prioritize saving Vegapunk above all else. As such, Luffy will have to open the way for Sanji to escape, and that would require him to fight Saturn and Kizaru at the same time. Luffy is certainly very powerful and an individual capable of taking down an admiral with relative ease.

However, when Saturn is included in the equation, this task becomes much more difficult. Luffy can’t take down both of them at the same time and that’s when doubts begin to arise. Luffy might be able to give them a beating for life, however, for him to defeat them both alone is really difficult.

At the same time, fans also need to consider other aspects of the story here. The Egghead Incident is known to be a major event that will shake the entire world of One Piece .

As such, if Luffy is defeated here while saving his entire crew, it would make sense for this event to spread across the world. This is something very interesting that fans need to keep in mind and it certainly created a very interesting twist in the story.

The high power consumption of the Gear 5

When one thinks of Luffy losing this battle, it almost seems like an impossible thought and this is simply due to the fact that Luffy is nearly invincible in his Gear 5 state. He has already defeated Kizaru once and sent Saturn flying.

In fact, as fans already know, Luffy even defeated Kaido, the strongest party this time, and if he managed that, defeating everyone else shouldn’t be that difficult for him. However, the Gear 5 is not unlimited in terms of power. The Gear 5 certainly has a power source and it runs out.

Luffy’s stamina and Haki are drained tremendously fast when he is at Gear 5, meaning he can’t fight as much as he wants. This is especially true because he is fighting two powerful individuals at the same time.

This means that Luffy will spend more energy this time in this battle and as a result it will eventually run out. When that happens, Luffy can probably be defeated, that is, unless he receives some kind of help from people like Sanji, or, perhaps, the Giants or any other member of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Gear 5’s high power consumption practically guarantees that Luffy will not be able to sustain a high level of performance against Saturn and Kizaru at the same time. Defeating them both individually is something he can easily do, however, defeating them together is a very difficult task for him.

That being said, Luffy will likely stand his ground and it’s even possible that he could defeat them, however, the chances of that happening are low. Fans should be open to the possibility of Luffy being defeated and then captured, which would set up a very interesting event in the future of the story that has already been hinted at by Oda.

Luffy’s Vivre Card

For fans who don’t remember, Luffy had his Vivre Card made by Sabo, and distributed among the Straw Hat Grand Fleet at the end of the Dressrosa arc.

This is also the same arc in which the Straw Hat Grand Fleet was finally created. As soon as the great fleet was created, Oda established the fact that this fleet would go into action very soon.

The Straw Hat Grand Fleet, as fans know, will play an important role in One Piece in a groundbreaking event that will shake the entire world. These are words that Oda himself mentioned in the story and, until now, they have not fulfilled this role.

Putting two and two together, fans should easily be able to tell that any role they play in the future of the story must be connected to Luffy’s Vivre Card, as they all have a piece of it, similar to how Luffy had a piece of Vivre. Ace card before the story timeskip.

If Luffy is defeated and captured here, the Straw Hat Pirates will gather all their forces to launch a powerful attack on the World Government, which would then be a major event for the future of history.

Maybe that’s the direction Oda wants to take here, and if so, it will certainly be incredibly exciting for the future of the story. If Luffy is defeated in Egghead, especially considering how current events have already been set up, then the future of One Piece is going to be very interesting.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that this situation won’t happen. In that case, Luffy would return in the form of Sanji, or, against all odds, manage to take down Kizaru and Saturn at the same time. The chances of this happening are very low, however, one can never truly count Luffy out.
