What is the 4 Gods Theory in One Piece?

Luffy is one of the Four Gods in One Piece, but he might be close friends with a second God, and he doesn’t even know it!

SUMMARY

Luffy consumed the Hito Hito no Mi: Nika Devil Fruit to possess the powers of the Sun God.
Theories suggest that The God of Forest, Rain and Earth are Ryokugyu, Monkey D. Dragon and Blackbeard respectively.
However, Chopper also has high chances of being the Forest God.

After years of thinking Luffy had consumed Gomu Gomu no Mi, a simple Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, One Piece finally revealed in chapter 1044 that it is a Mythical Zoan fruit whose identity was disguised by the World Government.

The real identity of the Gomu Gomu no Mi is Hito Hito no Mi: Nika, which allows its user to gain the abilities of the Sun God, Nika. The legend of Nika has been passed down for generations and records of his existence are only available in ancient texts.

But after the revelation of the Sun God, fans quickly figured out that there are four other Gods, and one of them could even be in Luffy’s crew!

Who and what are the Four Gods in One Piece?

Chapter 287 of One Piece showed a glimpse of history 400 years ago when a girl called Mousse was about to be sacrificed to save the island of Jaya from a disease. During the sacrificial ceremony, the people prayed to the Gods of the Sun, Rain, Earth, and Forest. Now that we know that the Sun God Nika exists, it is highly probable that the others do, too.

Given that Luffy randomly ate the Nika Devil Fruit, chances are that other individuals have also found and consumed the Devil Fruits, which are related to the four Gods. Since we already know how powerful Luffy is, we can expect some formidable enemies if the fruits end up in the hands of the World Government or any other opposing force.

Fans speculate that Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon, is the God of Rain. While his powers have never been revealed, speculation suggests he can control the weather and clouds because it always rains when he appears in the series.

Dragon’s character could be inspired by the legends of Japanese dragons who can manipulate weather. If so, then there is little doubt that Luffy’s father is the God of Rain. Since he commands some extremely powerful people, there is no doubting his ability either.

The next person who is suspected to be the God of Forest is Ryokugyu. This Marine Admiral is a formidable enemy who has consumed the Logia-type Devil Fruit, Mori Mori no Mi. He can not only create and control plants but also transform into one himself. He can grow massive trees and plants to manipulate and fight with them in seconds. This puts him in the perfect spot to be a Forest God.

The Earth God is the trickiest to figure out. However, many people assume that Blackbeard is the one who ate the Devil Fruit. Some theories suggest that his Devil Fruit is earth-type. He is also similar to Luffy because their powers act in the most unexpected ways. If Blackbeard really is one of the four Gods then Luffy will have a very tough final battle to win. Another theory suggests that Imu is the Earth God due to a lot of hints in the manga.

Which Straw Hat is the Forest God in One Piece?

A viral theory suggests that Chopper might be the God of Forest in One Piece. He had consumed the Hito Hito no Mi fruit. But what if it was the Mythical Zoan, Forest God version? It is the only Devil Fruit that looks like a mushroom. Chopper can talk to animals and has a strong urge to heal. All of these together point at Chopper being a prime candidate for Forest God.

Chopper’s home was destroyed by Blackbeard. It is possible that the pirate was in search of Chopper’s Devil Fruit and rampaged in search of it. If the World Government renamed the Forest God fruit to deter people, the chances of it being scattered around and randomly eaten by Choppers would increase.

A fan pointed out that in an interview, Eiichiro Oda avoided a question that asked him about Hito Hito no Mi. This makes the situation look even more suspicious.

If Chopper is indeed the Forest God, then Luffy’s quest would become easier as he will have a nakama protecting him. It could be a 2 vs 2 battle instead of 1vs 3. This change could bring the tide to Luffy’s side and help him win critical battles in the future.
