The latest episode of One Piece anime went all out with the amazing fight sequence between Gear 5 Luffy and Rob Lucci. The animators of the show did an outstanding job of expanding on what we saw in the original manga version of Eiichiro Oda of this clash.

One Piece Episode 1100 was a real milestone for the anime-only fans, as not only did it bring back the super popular Gear 5 form of Luffy, but it also kicked off the major battle of the ongoing Egghead Arc. However, this is just the beginning as there are some huge new battles we are about to witness.

When Luffy crossed paths with Lucci, the two rivals wasted no time jumping back into combat. Luffy right away shifted into his Gear 5 form, which was super exciting, however, to everyone’s surprise, Lucci revealed that he had awakened his own Devil Fruit as well.

Later in the episode, we find out that Sentomaru also arrives at Eggehead. Surprisingly, he showed up under orders to side with the Straw Hats Pirates.

We saw that when Sentomaru was talking to Luffy, their conversation got interrupted by a surprise Shugan attack from Lucci. This attack ended up seriously injuring Sentomaru. And considering Luffy’s ability to see the future, a lot of fans were wondering why he didn’t react in time to protect Sentomaru.

The general theory is that Luffy’s Gear 5 form has a bit of a weakness, he tends to be much stronger and more alert when he’s taking a situation seriously, rather than when he is just happy and excited.

Luffy’s lack of focus on Lucci while conversing with Sentomaru ended up costing his ally in this case. This highlights a major flaw in Gear 5 Luffy.

What To Expect From One Piece Episode 1101

While the previous installment of the series ended up with a major lore drop, One Piece Episode 1101 is expected to focus on the continuation of the anticipated class between Luffy and Lucci.

Rather than devoting significant screen time to extensive explanations from Dr. Vegapunk, any additional insights regarding Devil Fruits will likely be spun seamlessly into the dialogue as the fight proceeds.

One Piece Episode 1101 is also expected to provide some key context about the nature of Kizaru‘s mission and the number of Marine forces currently on their way to Egghead Island. This information is particularly major, as Straw Hat Pirates will undoubtedly need to defend themselves against the reinforcement.
