Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is a strong contender for this year’s NBA MVP award. He’s currently ranked second in the odds, right behind Nikola Jokic, who has won the MVP twice before.

Many experts and fans believe that Gilgeous-Alexander has a great chance of winning the MVP title this year. One prominent NBA analyst, Shaquille O’Neal, thinks that the 25-year-old point guard deserves the MVP trophy based on his outstanding performance this season.

Nikola Jokic surpasses Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in NBA MVP list

Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is having an incredible season and playing like a true superstar. Every week, he delivers outstanding performances, putting him at the forefront of the MVP race. Many experts believe he’s on track to win his third MVP award this year.

His main rival, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is also having a fantastic season with the OKC Thunder. Shai’s consistent excellence has impressed fans and analysts alike.

However, some, like Channing Frye, doubt if Shai can clinch the MVP title this time. Nikola Jokic’s dominance is clear as he leads the MVP race. His consistent brilliance has been crucial for the Nuggets, leading them to victory in numerous games.

Behind Jokic, there’s a tight race for the remaining MVP spots. Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Bucks and Luka Doncic from the Mavericks are tied for third place.

Jayson Tatum and Domantas Sabonis follow closely, securing the fifth and sixth spots. Other notable players like Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Anthony Edwards are also in contention for MVP recognition.

Shaquille O’Neal picks Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to win NBA MVP

In the NBA world, many people see Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) as the second-best player. However, Shaquille O’Neal, a well-known NBA analyst, thinks differently. He believes that SGA should win this year’s MVP award.

Shaq made his thoughts clear on the latest NBA on TNT show. He said, “SGA is the MVP, so there is no question about it. Today, I noticed something impressive about him. He’s one of the few players who have scored 30 or more points in 50 games this season. He meets all the criteria for being the MVP. He’s a phenomenal player, and his team has a great record of 49 wins and 21 losses, just behind Denver’s 51 wins and 21 losses. So, giving the MVP to Nikola Jokic wouldn’t be right.”

Speaking of stats, Gilgeous-Alexander is the third-highest scorer in the NBA this season, averaging 30.4 points per game. He’s behind Luka Doncic with 33.9 points and Giannis Antetokounmpo with 30.6 points. On the other hand, Jokic is also performing exceptionally well, averaging 26.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game.

Currently, Jokic’s team, the Nuggets, holds the top spot in the Western Conference with a slim 0.5-game lead over Gilgeous-Alexander’s Thunder team.
