As an epic tale of pirates and adventure, One Piece features plenty of powerful swords. But which are the strongest?

Strongest Swords One Piece

HIGHLIGHTS

Look out for Meito swords in One Piece, as they are the strongest blades crafted by talented swordsmiths.
Swords like Napoleon, Shirauo, and Soto Muso are unique weapons in terms of power and the abilities they possess.
Not all swords are graded equally, with some like Shodai Kitetsu and Murakumogiri being top-of-the-line Saijo O-Wazamono grade weapons.

Nidai Kitetsu

Luffy holding Nidai Kitetsu

Debut: Episode 897
Grade: O Wazamono

One of the 21 O Wazamono swords, Nidai Kitetsu is currently in possession of Hitetsu. It is a cursed sword that was crafted by Kotetsu. The sword is inferior to Shodai Kitetsu in terms of strength and grade, but it is likely quite strong considering its own grade.

This sword has not been used in a serious battle, so it is difficult to rank the power of the blade. But, as it is an O Wazamono sword, it is very likely a powerful weapon.

Current User: Since the sword is currently in possession of Sukiyaki, there is a very low chance that it will ever used be in a battle.

Shusui

Roronoa Zoro wielding Shusui sword One Piece

Debut: Episode 342
Grade: O Wazamono

Shusui is considered the national treasure of the Land of Wano. In the past, the sword was wielded by Ryuma and was buried with him after his death. It remained in Wano until Moria stole the blade, along with Ryuma’s corpse.

Shusui is an O Wazamono sword and a black blade. Originally, it was just an O Wazamono sword but after numerous battles, Ryuma managed to turn it into an all-black blade. With the power of Shusui, Roronoa Zoro has managed to slice through a dragon with just a single slash.

Current User: Since Shusui is considered a treasure of Wano, any person who wields it is considered a pariah. Therefore, the people of Wano have taken utmost caution to ensure that Shusui remains buried.

Wado Ichimonji

Zoro and his first legendary sword

Debut: Episode 2
Grade: O Wazamono

Wado Ichimonji has played an important role in Roronoa Zoro’s journey so far. The sword is of significant importance to Zoro as it was once wielded by his rival and friend, Kuina. After Kuina’s death, Zoro requested to take Wado Ichimonji with him and Koshiro agreed to his request.

The sword is among the 21 O Wazamono swords, and it was the only sword that has managed to withstand the attacks from Mihawk’s Yoru. Wado Ichimonji was also able to fend off attacks from Shusui, another testament to the sword’s durability.

Current User: Zoro is emotionally attached to Wado Ichimonji as it belonged to Kuina, whom he considered his best friend. When Zoro finally accomplishes his goal with the sword by his side, it won’t be a surprise if he sheds a tear or two.

Ame no Habakiri

One Piece Oden Busoshoku Haki

Debut: Episode 955
Grade: O Wazamono

Ame no Habakiri is one of the two swords that were originally in Oden’s possession. It is an O Wazamono sword and Oden used it in conjunction with Enma. Oden used this weapon to leave a massive wound on Kaido.

Ame no Habakiri was crafted by Tenguyama Hitetsu, a legendary swordsmith of Wano. The sword is considered to be on par with Enma, which is another O Wazamono sword; however, it is unknown whether the sword has the ability to draw out Haki as Enma does.

Current User: During the Wano Country arc, the sword was given to Momonosuke. Given the fact that it was his father’s sword, Momonosuke will definitely do it justice.

6Enma

Roronoa Zoro wielding Enma sword One Piece

Debut: Episode 955
Grade: O Wazamono

Yet another of the 21 O Wazamono swords, Enma is currently in the possession of Roronoa Zoro, a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. It was previously wielded by Kozuki Oden. The sword was gifted to Zoro by Hiyori in exchange for returning Shusui to him.

Enma is one of the two weapons that managed to injure Kaido in a fight, which is an incredible feat considering that Kaido’s skin is nigh impossible to penetrate. Enma also has the unique ability to draw out Haki from an individual, which makes Zoro’s attacks all the more powerful.

Current User: Enma played a crucial role in Zoro’s victory over King. The swordsman has yet to master it completely, but there is no doubt that he will do so in the upcoming arcs.

Griffon

One Piece Shanks stopping Akainu with Griffon

Debut: Episode 151
Grade: Unknown

Griffon is a sword of an unknown grade and it is wielded by Shanks, the captain of the Red Hair Pirates. There is a very strong possibility of Griffon being a Saijo O Wazamono sword, as it has proved to be quite durable over the course of several fights. Shanks clashed his sword against Whitebeard’s Murakumogiri, which caused the sky to split.

Shanks was able to stop Akainu’s devil fruit enhanced attack with his sword, and the sword was not damaged by the attack. Shanks has also fought against Dracule Mihawk in the past, who also has a Saijo O Wazamono sword. All things point towards Shanks’ Griffon being a named sword of the highest grade.

Current User: Shanks has not been involved in a serious fight in a very long time. It is plausible to assume that Oda has been saving the Yonko for something special.

Shodai Kitetsu

Kizaru vs Rayleigh

Debut: Episode 49
Grade: Saijo O-Wazamono

Shodai Kitetsu is the strongest known Kitetsu sword, supposedly crafted by the very first generation of Kitetsu swordsmiths. It was the first and the best of its kind; the Kitetsu swords crafted after Shodai Kitetsu were not of the same grade.

Shodai Kitetsu is one of the twelve Saijo O Wazamono grade swords. Being a Kitetsu sword, Shodai Kitetsu is a cursed sword and it is destined to bring a gruesome death to its wielder. It is one of the few swords that fans have not yet seen in action, but that might change in the future. Who knows who may wield this powerful blade?

Current User: There is still no information about the current wielder of this particular blade.

Murakumogiri

One Piece Whitebeard Edward Newgate Busoshoku Haki

Debut: Episode 316
Grade: Saijo O-Wazamono

Wielded by Edward Newgate, Murakumogiri is quite different from the other entries on the list. Unlike the other named swords, Murakumogiri is wielded as naginata. It is a Saijo O-Wazamono sword, which naturally makes it one of the strongest weapons in the series.

Whitebeard used the Murakumogiri quite efficiently. He used the weapon to overwhelm Blackbeard in a fight, with the latter only surviving because of his unique body. Whitebeard was also able to combine his devil fruit ability with his Murakumogiri to further increase its power.

Current User: After Whitebeard’s death, the weapon was placed on his grave. It is highly unlikely that it will be ever used again.

2Ace

One Piece Gol D. Roger Busoshoku Haki

Debut: Episode 0
Grade: Saijo O-Wazamono

There was always speculation that Roger’s sword was a named sword, and this was confirmed recently. Roger’s sword is one of the twelve Saijo O Wazamono swords, which is befitting of the pirate with the highest bounty in the series. The sword is named Ace. It is possible that Roger had a very deep affection for his sword, which is why he decided to name his son Ace after his blade.

As a Saijo O Wazamono sword, Ace is a very powerful weapon. A single attack from Roger’s sword was enough to send Kozuki Oden flying through several boulders.

Current User: With Roger’s death, the chances of seeing Ace ever again completely vanished.

1Yoru

Dracule Mihawk wielding Yoru sword One Piece

Debut: Episode 23
Grade: Saijo O-Wazamono

Mihawk’s Yoru was the first Saijo O-Wazamono weapon to be revealed in the series. Yoru is an all-black blade, worthy of being wielded by the Strongest Swordsman in the World.

With the power of this blade, Mihawk has managed to cut down a giant iceberg and large galleons with ease. The flying slashes from the blade are incredibly accurate and can cause hefty damage to the surroundings. From what the anime has shown so far, no other sword can match Yoru’s power.

Current User: Fans will get the opportunity to see Dracule Mihawk and Yoru in action in the Final Saga of One Piece.
