Tata Martino has now shared an update on Lionel Messi – with many eager for the Inter Miami No.10 to regain full fitness as soon as possible.
The 61-year-old was quoted by Mundo Deportivo in Spain.
So, what did Tata Martino say about Inter Miami No.10 Lionel Messi? Let’s take a look…
Tata Martino now provides update on Lionel Messi injury
Well, Inter Miami fans are desperate to know whether the Argentina international will be fit to take part in the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final clash against Monterrey on Thursday 4th April.
Martino was unable to confirm if Messi would be able to play, but did provide some positive news.
The Inter Miami boss said: “He’s recovering, he’s been out on the pitch for a few days, he’s improving day by day so we’re keeping an eye on his progress. It’s still too early, we have to wait until at least next week.”

At least the Argentine is back on the grass kicking a ball around – that is hugely encouraging.

Messi missed Argentina’s 3-0 win over El Salvador on Saturday, and will also sit out of Wednesday’s clash against Costa Rica due to his troublesome hamstring problem.
Inter Miami No.10 is a durable footballer
Of course, any injury for Messi is a worry at the age of 36 – although the South American has proven himself to be a very durable footballer throughout his career, even in his thirties.
As shown by Transfermarkt, the man from Rosario was only injured for 23 days throughout the 2022/23 campaign, which is an excellent achievement given his age and the sheer volume of football he plays.

No player makes 894 appearances at club level and a further 180 on the international scene without having a remarkable level of endurance and natural fitness.
Therefore, Messi – whose move to Miami was five years in the making – will hopefully be able to recover from his slight hamstring niggle in time for the aforementioned CONCACAF Champions League clash against Monterrey.
