Unlike Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, Cameron Brink has made a winning start to her professional career. The No.2 overall draft pick was in the thick of things as the LA Sparks won a gritty battle against 4x WNBA champions Seattle Storm. Moreover, some lovely moves by the 22-year-old grabbed a lot of eyes on Saturday.

Cameron Brink got the first piece of WNBA action just 5 minutes after the jump ball in the opening quarter. An assist by the team’s No.5 Dearica Hamby gave her the opportunity to bury a 4-foot layup. However, the moment that is gaining a lot of traction came in the third quarter of this enticing matchup. With just 3:32 remaining, a 3-foot driving layup attempt from Seattle’s Australian star Jade Melbourne met a phenomenal block from the 2024 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.

Following this, reactions have been pouring in not just from the fans but also from some familiar faces. Emmy-nominated Sportscaster and CBS Sports HQ Freelance Host Chris Williamson was among the first to exhibit his admiration for the block. He quickly used his X account to share a live clip of the action. In addition to this, he captioned it, “Dearica Hamby came out the third ready to go drains a triple at end of shot clock and yooo Cameron brink rejection !!”

Although, this was not the only response to the brilliance of Brink.

Cameron Brink wins the fan’s approval on her debut

For those watching the game live, the moment quickly became viral courtesy of the flood of tweets that followed. One of her fans heaped praises of it by expressing how nasty the nature of that block was. The fan tweeted, “Cameron Brink that block was NASTY.”

Another X user was in awe of the power Cameron Brink possesses and also pointed out that her effort sent the ball to the crowd. Interestingly, Brink had two blocks on the night and they proved to be the only blocks for the WHOLE team. Just goes on to show the value she will provide to the Sparks. The tweet read, “OMG Cameron Brink just tossed that shot into the stands!!!”

Meanwhile, there were also some people who had no hesitation in stating Brink as the future of the franchise. In 22 minutes on the court, Brink had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks while shooting 50% from the field. One of them said, “I’ve seen enough, Cameron Brink is the future of the Sparks.”

Further, one X user had a hilarious outlook on her block by calling it a swat. Despite being a rookie, Brink played the most minutes for the LA outfit on the floor on Saturday. The user expressed, “Cameron Brink SWAT”

Also, one commended her defensive abilities along with cautioning her to stay out of foul trouble. Notably, she had 2 fouls last night. His comment was, “She’s a great defender as long as she can stay out of foul trouble…love her game!”

A great start as a rookie for Cameron Brink in the professional realm. The spirit and fight shown by her on the hardwood are worthy of such an acclamation. Can she keep this up in her upcoming game? Only time will tell.
