Brandon Aiyuk on Instagram live

The Washington Commanders made quarterback Jayden Daniels the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, and rumors were swirling that they could make a play for disgruntled San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

The intimate relationship between Jayden Daniels and Brandon Aiyuk is well known. During their time together as teammates at Arizona State, the two developed an almost unbreakable friendship.

The wide receiver even appeared on the quarterback’s Instagram Live after being selected by the Washington Commanders with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, demonstrating how strong their bond is.

With Brandon Aiyuk appearing on his Instagram Live so soon after being drafted No. 2 overall, it has now led to rumors that he could be making a play for the Washington Commanders to trade for him.

Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers are currently at odds regarding a new contract. He feels that his pay should be equivalent to that of some of the top pass-catchers in the league, and given his recent output on the field, that is more than fair. Sadly, it appears that not much money is available since John Lynch is focused on quarterback Brock Purdy’s impending contract extension in 2025.

There had been rumors that the Niners want to deal Aiyuk and maybe even Deebo Samuel in an effort to push forward in the opening round. That never happened, but San Francisco’s selection of wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, out of Florida, with the No. 31 overall pick, stirred things up even more.

Brandon Aiyuk Has Been At Odds With The 49ers For Months

The San Francisco 49ers reportedly were fielding calls about trading either 26-year-old receiver Brandon Aiyuk or 28-year-old wideout Deebo Samuel but nothing ever happened during the first round of the draft.

The 49ers, who have appeared in the NFC championship game in four of the last five years, have been at odds with Aiyuk for months.

Aiyuk is in his final season as a rookie, having just finished two seasons with 1,000 yards or more, per ESPN.com. He is allegedly interested in a deal that would pay more than $25 million a year.

The 49ers clearly do not want to shell out that much which has led to so much discourse between them.
