The Buffalo Bills really wanted to get away from the Stefon Diggs era and further proved that point weeks after trading him.

The Bills announced on Friday that Chase Claypool, a former wide receiver for the Bears, had inked a one-year contract. His signing made two significant moves at the wideout position since the team traded away Diggs to the Houston Texans.

Hours after his signing, the Bills decided to disrespect Stefon Diggs’ tenure, thereby immediately giving his number 14 jersey away to Chase Claypool.

Buffalo also addressed wideout during the 2024 NFL draft, selecting Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman with the No. 33 overall pick in the second round.

The Stefon Diggs era in Buffalo ended with the team never getting to the Super Bowl, as they received a 2025 second-round pick (via Minnesota) in return.

Earlier this year, Diggs sent out a cryptic social media post where the wideout said he was “ready for watever.” In February, at the Pro Bowl games, Diggs further cast doubt in his Bills’ future when he said, “I can’t tell you what the future holds, but I’m still being me.”

Last season, it appeared as though things were getting worse between Stefon Diggs and quarterback Josh Allen. Diggs averaged 51.2 receiving yards per game for the remainder of the year after posting 100-yard receiving outings in five of his first six games. He hauled in 107 passes for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns before the end of the season.

Stefon Diggs’ era with the Houston Texans might last only one season.

As part of their blockbuster trade to acquire him, the Houston Texans wiped out the final three years on his contract, giving him the ability to become a free agent after this season via ESPN.com.

Diggs received a raise and a guarantee of $22.52 million in 2024 from the Texans, who also transferred the $3.5 million promised to him for the next season into this one.

Diggs can ball out during the 2024 season and then get a massive deal from a team that will likely be his final big one.
