Taylor Swift’s father dodged a question about whether he expects Travis Kelce to ask for his blessing before proposing to his daughter.

After touching down at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Friday ahead of Sunday’s Grammy Awards, the superstar’s father, 71, declined to answer a query about his eldest child’s love life.

In response to a paparazzo questioning whether the father-of-two questioning if the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, needs to ask for his ‘permission’ to propose, Scott quickly closed his car door.

Just a few minutes earlier, however, he was happy to answer a few football-related questions, including if he was a Kansas City Chiefs fan before Taylor began dating Kelce.

‘I’m a football fan — of all teams,’ the longtime Philadelphia Eagles fan answered coyly, according to Page Six.

He proceeded to note that Andy Reid, the team’s current head coach, ‘used to coach the Eagles.’

In December, engagement rumors between Kelce and Taylor began to swirl after Page Six reported that the football player had already asked Scott for permission to ask the 12-time Grammy winner to marry him.

A source close to Kelce told the site: ‘Scott has been asked for his blessing and has wholeheartedly given it, and Travis has been talking to friends about a ring.’

While it is as yet unclear whether the rumors are true, Kelce and Scott did get on like a house on fire when they first met, at Taylor’s Eras show tour in Argentina.

During the Chiefs’ bye week, Kelce flew to accompany his girlfriend on the South American leg of her worldwide, sold-out tour, and was spotted in a VIP booth alongside Scott.

At one point, Taylor changed the lyrics to one of her songs to reference going home to ‘the guy on the Chiefs’, and both Kelce and Scott Swift had an adorable reaction to the moment.

When Taylor came off stage, videos showed her running straight into the arms of her man, and their romance has only been going one way since.

Last weekend, Swift was on the field alongside his parents, Donna and Ed, and his older brother Jason as they celebrated the Chiefs winning the AFC Championship with a sensational display against the Ravens – favorites with many to beat the Chiefs and go on to win the Super Bowl.

Swift is expected to be there for the game but she restarts touring next week with four nights in Tokyo, Japan.

Her last night is Saturday, but the 17-hour time difference works in her favor in returning to the west coast of the United States.

While recently reflecting over the hate and criticism from fans at the start of his relationship with Taylor, which began around last summer, Kelce – a two-time Super Bowl champ’ – preferred to keep a simple view on love.

‘It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it,’ he said of his romance with the singer. ‘And hopefully everybody realizes we’re two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it. It’s nothing more than that.

‘How much the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it. And we just have fun with it. We just enjoy every single bit of it.

‘Sure enough, I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been a wonderful year, man.’
