Patrick Mahomes is a winner who keeps winning and he wants to make sure it stays that way.

The football season is over for Patrick Mahomes, but sports were still on the menu during free agency.

Many believed Chris Jones would have to find a new home this offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs facing salary-cap restraints. They found a way to make it happen.

Now Mahomes is making sure they can make other moves.

The two-time MVP has agreed to restructure his contract in order to clear an additional $21.6 million worth of salary-cap space for the Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Prior to the restructure, Mahomes carried a $9.85M base salary for the 2024 league year.

In 2023, Kansas City “restructured his agreement” by giving Mahomes an increase in cash over the 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Mahomes became the highest-paid player in the NFL when he signed a 10-year extension worth $450 million during the 2020 offseason.

The team has won the last two Super Bowls after trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. They will now try and accomplish an unprecedented three-peat.
