Patrick Mahomes reveals drastic change he must be willing to make to match Tom Brady’s career

Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes after the Super Bowl.

There aren’t many, if any, quarterbacks in NFL history that Patrick Mahomes should envy. Except for one: Tom Brady.

Brady broke every record imaginable throughout his 23-season career, winning seven Super Bowls and playing until the age of 45.

Patrick Mahomes’ plan to surpass Tom Brady: Get rid of dad bod

Thank you for watching

Mahomes is on pace to surpass Brady, but that longevity is not easy. And Mahomes knows it.

Tom’s skewed people’s brains on how hard that is to do because of how well he took care of his body. So I’m about to make sure that I get rid of this dad bod if I want to play to 45.

It isn’t just his body he has to take care of in order to play as long as Brady. Mahomes also has a personal reason for being unsure about whether he wants to go on that journey.

The quarterback doesn’t want to take too much time away from his kids. Playing for another 17 years wouldn’t allow him the time to really cherish their growing up phase.

I’ve looked, if I played until Tom’s age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old. I would love to play that long. At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter. If I can do that, I’ll continue to play. But if I feel like it’s taking away from my family time, that’s when I’ll know it’s time to go.

Mahomes has things very clear: it’s family and football. But if the latter begins to take too much priority over the former as he gets older, it doesn’t sound like he will hesitate to hang up the cleats.

Thankfully, he’s only 28 years old and that’s far away for now.
