Rashee Rice with Kansas City Chiefs

Rashee Rice is expected to face a multi-game suspension from the NFL following a serious car crash in Dallas, where the Kansas City Chiefs star was reportedly driving at 119mph. The incident has resulted in eight charges against him.

The 24-year-old Super Bowl winner turned himself in to police earlier this month after allegedly causing a crash involving multiple vehicles on a Dallas highway back in March.

Among the charges Rice is facing are aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and multiple counts of collision involving injury.

How many games might Rice miss?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rice is also likely to face disciplinary action from the NFL, potentially leading to a significant suspension that could impact the Chiefs. This looming suspension might prompt the Chiefs to consider selecting a wide receiver in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach, who hold the No. 32 pick in the draft, are looking to strengthen their offensive lineup, particularly at wide receiver. The Chiefs struggled with drops last season and have already added free agent Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown to their roster.

Rice had become an important part of Reid‘s offensive strategy last season and was a key target for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. However, given his legal issues stemming from the Dallas car crash, Rice may miss the start of next season due to suspension.

Veach emphasized the team’s focus on improving depth across all positions and acknowledged the deep talent pool at wide receiver in this year’s draft, which could benefit the Chiefs with their final first-round pick.

With the draft approaching, the Chiefs are strategically planning their selections to address immediate needs and build for the future, mindful of the challenges of a long NFL season and the importance of roster depth.
