Kansas City chiefs head coach Andy Reid speaks. The team is believed to be in talks with Xavien Howard.

Xavien Howard is in need of a new home after being released by the Miami Dolphins.

We know Miami had to cut Xavien Howard from a financial and salary cap perspective, so it is not because he is bad at what he does. All he needs now is to find a team to give him a shot and it seems he has found one in a Super Bowl contender.

A new report states that Xavien Howard is in talks with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Howard would be a nice replacement for L’Jarius Sneed after the Chiefs traded him to the Tennessee Titans. Off the heels of acquiring cornerback L’Jarius Sneed in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, the club has signed him to a four-year, $76.4 million deal. That includes $55 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.

One of the biggest factors in trading him was the Chiefs’ unwillingness to pay him.

Xavien Howard is a much cheaper option at the position, and although he is not as good as Sneed, he knows how to play the cornerback position and would be a nice addition to the back-to-back Super Bowl champs.

Xavien Howard Was a Shocking Release From The Dolphins But it Could Lead Him To Another Super Bowl Contender

CB Xavien Howard was cut by the Miami Dolphins at the beginning of the offseason. Miami decided not to give Howard the $25.9 million cap hit that was expected to come with him in 2024.

Howard is still a very excellent player in his position, therefore that doesn’t imply anything. Although he is leaving a possible Super Bowl contender in the Dolphins, it could lead him to another contender as his name has come up with the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.

Howard brings experience, and physicality, and excels when the ball is in the air.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection is second in the NFL in interceptions with 29 since entering the league in 2016, according to ESPN.com.

Last season, Howard, who will be 31 at the start of the 2024 season, totaled one interception, 12 passes defended, and 45 combined tackles across 13 games.

What do you think about the Kansas City Chiefs signing Xavien Howard to replace Sneed? We would love to hear your opinions in the comments.
