Tom Brady Faces Defeat to Patrick Mahomes As Reigning Super Bowl Champion Pulls Off ‘Time 100’ Hat-Trick

The recent years have yielded the sweet, sweet fruits for Patrick Mahomes of all the toil and turmoil he has put through. The Texas native’s journey is bejeweling in the Time100: The Most Influential People 2024 list right beside the word Titan. Elected by Alex Rodriguez, Patrick Mahomes shimmers brightly as the top NFL player in the top influential people of 2024 list. However, something shining even brighter than his glamorous picture on the Time100 website is his taking over the GOAT Tom Brady in appearances in the Time100 Most Influential People list.

Tom Brady, the GOAT of the NFL, only made it to the list twice at the peak of his career. First in 2017, thanks to Conan O’Brien, and later in 2021 by soccer star David Beckham. This 2024 list puts Mahomes on a pedestal ahead of Brady since this would not only be his third appearance on the list but also his second consecutive appearance on the list. Mahomes made it to the list last in 2023 and earlier in 2020.

Even though he was not on the list, Brady elected A’ja Wilson to be on the Time100 list. Both Titans, one former one and one reigning one, were elected as the top influential people across the globe. However, it was the Major League Baseball World Series champion Rodriguez’s admiration for Mahomes that made him take over Brady.

Reminiscing the times when Mahomes used to visit the Baseball practice fields with his dad, Rodriguez said, “I distinctly remember giving him the worst advice ever. ‘Don’t play football. The money’s in baseball.’ I’m happy to be wrong and glad he didn’t listen!” Safe to say, Mahomes made the right decision. Since he has already taken over Tom Brady off-field, is it a war cry to take over Tom Brady’s on-field records as the GOAT, potentially the title of the GOAT as well?

Patrick Mahomes on his way to be the next GOAT

During his 10-year NFL career, Patrick Mahomes has not only started dominating every other team in the NFL but also has made it to 4 Super Bowls, winning 3 of them. Two of them being consecutive rings in 2022 and 2023. It’s not only a matter of clinching the title of GOAT for Mahomes since it won’t happen in the next season.

What’s more pressing for Mahomes is his quest for a ‘three-peat’, an accolade that even the crème de la crème Tom Brady and Terry Bradshaw could not unlock. Winning the Super Bowl in the 2024 season would make Patrick Mahomes the only player in the books of the NFL to be a starting QB of a three-peat team.
