Anthony Edwards doing DX celebration

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edward risked a fine from the NBA on Friday night by performing a lewd celebration during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns are now on the brink of elimination as the T-Wolves head towards a sweep, having gone up 3-0 in the first-round playoff series.

Minnesota pulled off a 126-109 win on the night, with Anthony scoring 36 points. Rudy Gobert added 19 points and 14 rebounds to help his team get closer to booting the Suns out of the postseason.

Edwards hit the Suns and their fans with a risky cele after finding Gobert with a full-court pass with around three minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Frenchman drew a foul before making a layup, prompting Edwards to pull out the iconic DX “Suck It” gesture while wearing a full smile.

My boy got and-one. I was just happy about that,” he explained.

The NBA frowns upon such gestures and could hit Anthony Edwards with a fine of at least $25,000 for the celebration. Joel Embiid was hit with a $35,000 fine for doing something similar early in the season.

It’s probably why Gobert refused to join his teammate, though he might have if he’d caught on.

I was trying to get Rudy to do it with me, but he’d never make eye contact with me, which was crazy because I threw you the ball for the and-one,” Edwards told reporters after the win.

Gobert confirmed having seen the cele and gave it his stamp of approval.

I might be concussed, but I did see,” he said. “I liked that, I was proud.
