Tank Dell shooting at party (Photo via TexansCommenter/Twitter)
Texans wide receiver Tank Dell sustained a minor gunshot wound in a shooting in Sanford, Florida.
The footage and further details regarding the events that transpired at the Cabana Live event venue early on Sunday morning were made available by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
Due to a big audience, the sheriff’s office reports that when deputies arrived at the venue just after midnight to begin an area patrol, they were greeted by an armed security guard who had successfully captured the 16-year-old male suspect in the shooting.
The footage released shows a fight breaking out as you see Tank Dell coming out in the middle and getting caught between the 16-year-old shooter and another person who was returning fire.
Later, deputies say, they learned that five more shots had been fired in retaliation by a second, unidentified shooter. The second unnamed gunman seen the furthest away from Dell is still being sought after.
“We’re fortunate no one is dead or more people injured,” said Sheriff Dennis Lemma, via Wesh.com, who credited the actions of a security guard as “heroic.” “He literally tackled this guy from behind, got his weapon, and delivered him to us in handcuffs.”
Promoters of the event had ten armed security guards working the event and had a no-firearms policy for patrons. It remains unclear how the teenager got in with the handgun, but it will be part of the ongoing investigation.
Tank Dell Suffers Injury During Scary Shooting But Could’ve Been So Much Worse
Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a “minor” injury in a shooting Saturday night that left ten people injured at a Florida nightclub.
Footage showed that Dell found himself between the two shooters, and things could’ve been so much worse for him.
The Texans announced Dell’s injury in a statement Sunday. He was released from the hospital and “in good spirits,” according to the statement.
“We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla. last night,” the Texans said via their X account. “He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital, and he is in good spirits. We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate, but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this incident.”
