Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson ranked fourth on MLB Now’s Top 10 Shortstops Right Now last night. The two-time All-Star, who was ranked sixth on last year’s ranking, finished one spot ahead of Trea Turner of the Philadelphia Phillies and one spot behind Xander Bogaerts of the San Diego Padres.

On last night’s countdown, former Rockies general manager and MLB Network analyst Dan O’Dowd said on Swanson, “When you build your organization and you build your team, you want your shortstop to be your best defender.

Dansby has turned into the best defensive shortstop in our game. I would say he’s turned into that because he has incredible baseball awareness, he understands how the position needs to be played. He’s the glue of the entire infield, so to me, slam dunk he’s the best defensive shortstop in our game.”
