Dwayne Johnson’s First Wrestling Paycheck Was Horribly Low, He’s Now Worth 20,000,000X Times More

Dwayne Johnson’s first wrestling salary is smaller than an ant in front of his current net worth!

Dwayne Johnson's First Wrestling Paycheck Was Horribly Low, He's Now Worth 20,000,000X Times More

Very few people are multi-talented and excel at almost everything that they do, and Dwayne Johnson is one of those few people in the entertainment industry. An actor, producer, former professional wrestler, and even entrepreneur, The Rock has gone from rock bottom to the top all by himself.

With his grit and hard work, he made sure to earn much more than the first measly paycheck he got from his first wrestling match.

That being said, his first paycheck earned from wrestling—the same thing that made him the legend that he is today—was insultingly low: a minimal $40 for each match that he fought. Comparing that amount with his current net worth, Johnson is worth about 20,000,000x more than his first wrestling pay!

While Dwayne Johnson’s skills at almost everything he does are rather unbelievable, what’s even more difficult to swallow is the fact that he got paid a meager $40 for each match that he fought while starting in his wrestling field.

Recently appearing on The Pivot podcast, the People’s Champ talked about the same, elaborating on his salary before WWE. He said:

“As you’re starting, I, of course, wasn’t ready for WWE. So I started and made my bones down in Tennessee. There was a wrestling company down there called the USWA. That’s where you made your bones and cut your teeth. The guarantee every night was $40. Doesn’t matter where you’re at on the card, that was your guarantee.”

A puny forty bucks was obviously not enough to sustain himself and save at the same time, even at the time when he was just starting out as a wrestler. Thus, to earn more, he took the help of the ‘Gimmick Table’.

“We’d go to what’s called the ‘Gimmick Table.’ And we’d have our Polaroid. So, if we were wrestling on the card, and say we already wrestled for the night, you get $40, that’s guaranteed.

We can stay till intermission, the four of us as wrestlers who would go out to the Gimmick Table. We’d have our polaroids and anyone who wanted to take a Polaroid with you, you’d sign it [for] $5. Take it: $5, sign it: $10.”

In fact, in those days, the maximum amount he could bring in on a good day would be 80 bucks—which is also far from enough. However, those days are far from over for Dwayne Johnson now, considering his current whopping net worth, which is 20 million times more than his first wrestling paycheck.

Dwayne Johnson’s Current Net Worth Is Mind-Blowing

Dwayne Johnson has come a long, long way from his first wrestling match, and so has his net worth. One of the highest-paid entertainers on this planet, he has gone from earning $5.5 million from his starting role in The Scorpion King in 2001 to a straight $50 million from his upcoming movie, Red One.

Further adding to his earnings from Hollywood is the revenue he earns from his 30 to 40% stake in his founded tequila company, Teremana Tequila, the current estimation of which’s valuation is around $2 billion.

As for his net worth: According to Celebrity Net Worth, the People’s Champ’s net worth in 2009 was a stunning $30 million. However, that is far from his current net worth, which stands at a whopping $800 million. Not to mention all the endorsements that he has, including Apple, Ford, and even Under Armour.

Keeping all these factors in mind, it seems that it won’t be long before Dwayne Johnson’s name will be found listed among the names of the billionaires of the world as well!
