As Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels was released it was critically panned. However, it  has managed to become a fan favorite in recent times. The film features Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, and Samuel L. Jackson, some of the most renowned names in the film industry.

However, some of the haters were not having it, as they went onto Twitter to highlight her with unwarranted criticism. A user (@__RiseAgain__) tweeted how she had “directed only one feature before” which happened to be the 2021 horror film, Candyman but that was also a flop.

The director of the Marvels had only directed one feature before.

It was the failed retelling of Candyman.

They’re letting people with barely any experience direct 250 mil dollar films based on their race and gender.

However, fans were quick to jump to support Nia DaCosta on the social media platform, as a fan tweeted that the tweet is factually incorrect in a plethora of ways and that the film is her third feature film, while her 2021 film has a rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The unwanted comment was unjustified as a factually wrong tweet would create misinformation about The Marvels’ director, and commenting on her race and gender for her opportunities is wrong for them to criticize her.

Nia DaCosta Criticizes Marvel’s Multiverse Approach

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with its Multiverse saga, new projects, and series are being released. Until now the saga has failed to impress the ardent MCU fans as most of the projects have failed to make a lasting impact in the box office as well as in the minds of the viewers. While Nia DaCosta has directed The Marvels she has some serious criticism on the multiverse.

During an exclusive interview with Total Film magazine via Gamesradar, Nia DaCosta stated that she is not a big fan of the multiverse excursions saying it “was always very stressful to me.”

Though it is true because the multi-dimensions make the movie somewhat confusing and difficult to understand, it would vary from person to person who wants a complicated yet enjoyable film consisting of their favorite superheroes.
