“I hate it”: Despite Being an Actor for Many Decades, Robert Downey Jr Despises 1 Particular Sequence No Matter What

Robert Downey Jr gained worldwide recognition for his iconic roles such as Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes, and Lewis Strauss, but did you know that he has a weakness when it comes to acting? Yes, even veteran stars dread a couple of acting scenarios that they wish they could avoid.

It takes real talent to be able to deliver a stellar performance, especially in the entertainment business, though sometimes, actors like Downey Jr had to face the reality that not every scene would suit their preference.

Robert Downey Jr Reveals His Weakness When It Comes To Acting

During his guesting on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, actor Robert Downey Jr shared the things he does not like executing when filming for movies or shows. For him, opening doors and pretending not to know who the other person is on the other side is one of his weaknesses.

“First of all, my dirty secret is that I’m not actually all that good, and I’m gonna tell you why. I hate opening doors and pretending you’re surprised to see somebody that has been standing on the other side of the door waiting for the cue for you to open the door and pretend you’re surprised to see them.”

That scene sounded like a no-brainer as compared to performing stunts and action scenes, but seriously, it takes a lot of talent and focus to pretend not to know what is going to happen next. Downey Jr also added another thing he hates doing on movie sets:

“Also, driving a car and doing a bunch of like, ‘Alright, now do this, now do that.’ I hate it.”

Multitasking can be a good thing, but not when one is driving, and the director would ask the actor to do other stuff that would take his eyes off the road. Downey Jr’s pet peeves when it comes to acting are clearly understandable.

In the same interview, Robert Downey Jr. gave Jimmy Fallon a quick acting lesson using the scenes he shared earlier. The actor gave the host the following instructions that went:

“I’m gonna prep you. There’s a knock at the door, you open it. There’s a beautiful girl there who you’ve been in love with, and you thought she was dead. And then after you say like whatever, let’s pretend her name is Harmony, then you realize, you’re gonna have to kill her.”

Fallon was game and ready to test his acting abilities as he faced the camera and followed the cues that Downey Jr gave to him. He managed to pull it off for a second, but not long after they all burst into laughter.
