Kelly Clarkson reveals she was diagnosed ‘pre-diabetic’ before starting weight loss journey… but keeps silent on Ozempic speculation

Kelly Clarkson has revealed the real reason she embarked on her dramatic weight loss journey, which unfolded in the public eye.

The 41-year-old shared on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week that she decided to shed the pounds two years after being diagnosed pre-diabetic.

‘Well, I wasn’t shocked,’ she drily told her guest Kevin James. ‘I was a tiny bit overweight, but yeah, I wasn’t shocked by it.’

Medical professionals first told Kelly she was ‘right on the borderline’ of diabetes, which she shrugged off by saying: ‘But I’m not there yet!’

She insouciantly ‘waited two years, and then did, however, move into the – yeah, I was like: “Okay, I’ll do something about it.”‘

Kelly has been showered with praise for her weight loss in recent months, ever since she shifted her chat show from Los Angeles to New York.

She was initially reticent to discuss her slimmed-down figure, brushing aside her guests’ compliments and changing the subject when it arose.

However earlier this month she finally dished to People about the lifestyle changes she has recently put into effect, enabling her to keep trim.

‘Walking in the city is quite the workout. And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down,’ she said.

‘I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor – a couple years I didn’t,’ she confessed to the magazine.

‘And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat – sorry, vegetarians in the world!’

Her plummeting weight initially prompted her fans to start speculating that she was on Ozempic, the diabetes drug that is now fashionable as a weight-loss remedy.

Although other celebrities have confessed to using Ozempic, including Sharon Osbourne, Kelly herself has not addressed the rumors.

Her new petite frame has been hailed by social media as a ‘revenge body,’ debuting as it did after her rancorous divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

Brandon, who also represented Kelly as her manager during their marriage, waged a protracted legal wrangle over money with his ex-wife.

The former couple – who share two children called River Rose, nine, and Remington Alexander, seven – also found themselves locked in a custody battle.

In 2022 the pair arrived at a staggering $1.3 million divorce settlement, as well as alimony and child support payments to Brandon totaling $195,601 a month.

Last month, Kelly made her final $115,000 monthly spousal support payment, a development that left her feeling ‘relieved,’ according to an Us Weekly insider.

‘She’s been ready for this for a while now and is so happy her payments to Brandon will be complete,’ the insider informed the outlet. ‘It’s so nice knowing that this chapter of her life can close with the new year.’
