Leonardo DiCaprio Proves He Doesn’t Need Academy’s Validation, Wins Hearts With Heartwarming Gesture For Co-star After Oscar Snub

While Leonardo DiCaprio’s history of getting snubbed at the Oscar continues, this hasn’t stopped him from celebrating Lily Gladstone’s historic nomination.

From Greta Gerwig’s absence in the Best Director category to Andrew Scott from the Best Actor, this year’s Oscar snubs have left fans fuming. Unsurprisingly, Leonardo DiCaprio was one major name to join the list of notable snubs in the 96th Academy Awards, who has a history of going unrecognized at the Oscars since his breakthrough in the mid-90s.

But while a Second Academy win is off the cards for DiCaprio this year, this hasn’t stopped him from celebrating his costar Lily Gladstone’s historic Oscar nod, who shared her laudation for DiCaprio.

Leonardo Dicaprio Was Overjoyed On Lily Gladstone’s Historic Academy Nod

From Leonardo DiCaprio to Robert De Niro to Martin Scorsese himself behind the cameras, everyone involved in the acclaimed Killers of the Flower Moon was at the top of their game.

But the performance that resided at the heart of the tragic story of the Osage people was Lily Gladstone, who became the first Native American woman to score an Oscar nod for Best Actress. While DiCaprio himself was snubbed for his performance as Ernest Burkhart, this didn’t stop him from celebrating Gladstone’s historic nomination, who shared an IG post congratulating his costar.

Gladstone revealed (via Extra),

“He was just so proud, and then I told him that I was watching with my parents and ‘we’re celebrating me, but we’re also, like, collectively very pissed off for you.’ He did such an incredible job in this, and, like, just, he made an impossible character just so vivid, and it made my job so much easier, so I really want to share this, this moment with him, but you know, he told me right before the Globes, ‘No matter the outcome, I think you’re amazing and I’m proud of you.’”

Gladstone further expressed that she and her family were collectively pissed off by the Titanic Star’s snub, as the Golden Globe winner went on to deem Leonardo DiCaprio “the greatest actor.”

Lily Gladstone was on Her Way to Data Analytics Before Killers of the Flower Moon

But prior to landing the lead in Martin Scorsese’s most important film, Lily Gladstone almost decided to part ways with Hollywood and was close to signing up for a Data Analytics course. But as fate would have it, on her way to enroll for the course, a Gmail notification arrived, reading that she had a Zoom call scheduled with the living legend – MartinScorsese. She said,

“I had my mom’s old community college that she retired teaching at, I had their website pulled up and I had the course I was zeroing in on, and I had my wallet there with my debit card out, so I could start punching in the numbers… I was on my computer doing that when I saw the little gmail notification that I had a Zoom scheduled with Marty [Scorsese].”
