Amy Schumer has a message to critics regarding a recent joke she made involving fellow actress Nicole Kidman: “Breathe, y’all.”

On Friday, the Trainwreck actress, 42, issued a statement regarding her comment about the Bombshell star, 56, which some deemed distasteful.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Schumer uploaded a photo of Kidman sitting in the stands at the US Open. “This how human sit,” the comedian captioned the image. Soon after, many accused Schumer of bullying.

The Only Murders in the Building actress later returned to Instagram to explain that she meant no harm in her initial post.

“Okay so the joke I was making was the way she was posed didn’t seem like how a human sits. I was not making fun of how she looks. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most incredible actors of all time,” Schumer said on Friday.

In her caption, she went more into detail about the topic.

“I hope everyone is okay and takes a deep breath including all of the think pieces written on this,” Schumer wrote before asking if her critics were okay.

“To all of the people who commented on me. I’m so sorry I’m not prettier. Please forgive me. I apologize,” she continued.

Schumer went on about the amount of attention her comment got, adding, “It wasn’t even a slow news day.”

The Snatched talent then pointed out other events happening around the world.

“North Korea and Russia are getting too close for comfort. There are deadly storms sweeping our world and a man was convicted of rape,” she wrote.

Schumer added, “But what got your goat was me saying that Nicole kidmans pose was not human like. Breathe y’all.”

After forgiving “the people who write hateful things” about her, the Last Comic Standing alum said she hopes everyone enjoys their weekend.

Her Instagram comment section filled up once again, with users split on her apology.

“We forgive you too for being hateful and insensitive,” one user wrote.

Another quipped, “How dare you make a joke – what do you think you are, a comedian?”

Meanwhile, Howie Mandel offered up some support.

“You should never be put in a position to explain comedy. You are and always have been a treasure. A sense of humor is hard to come by,” the America’s Got Talent judge stated. “Anybody who doesn’t get you is missing out on this treasure you constantly share. You shouldn’t ever feel you have to defend yourself for their inability to understand and enjoy.”
