Angel Reese is no longer going by the “Bayou Barbie” and has given herself a new nickname following her move to the pros.

Reese was selected by the Chicago Sky as the seventh-overall pick of Monday’s Draft and has announced her new moniker, the “Chi Barbie,” in the wake of her latest move.

She took to TikTok to make the revelation on Thursday.

Hey y’all,” she said. “So, it’s the Chi Barbie here.

The new WNBA forward had asked fans for help with a new nickname, given the fact that “Bayou Barbie” wasn’t applicable anymore as she is no longer in Baton Rouge. The suggestions ranged from Chiraq Barbie to Chief Reese. Chi-Town Angel was another good one, but it was a bit too long.

Ultimately, she came up with her own name, though she said she would still be the Bayou Barbie as she plans to represent the Bayou and Baltimore, her hometown.

I am the Chi Barbie, I’m the Baltimore Barbie, and I am always gonna be the Bayou Barbie!” she noted.

The Sky drafted Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso on Monday, adding two national champions to their roster in one swoop. Reese won her championship with LSU last year, while Cardoso is coming off a title win with South Carolina.

They made it work by trading with the Phoenix Mercury for the third-overall pick so they could select Cardoso and made a swap with the Minnesota Lynx in order to get Reese.

The Sky hopes that the addition of former college stars will have an immediate impact. It should also gain them thousands of new fans, as Reese and Cardoso were two of the more popular players on the collegiate scene.
