Dwayne Johnson says he wanted “stability” for his daughters’ Christmases because he spent his childhood holidays traveling.

“That’s our tradition now, to wake up and live Christmas and the holidays through the girls,” Johnson said

Dwayne Johnson is committed to keeping Christmas traditions alive for his daughters.

The Black Adam star, 51, revealed when it comes to celebrating the holiday season, he tries to make sure his daughters have some “stability” by ensuring his family spends Christmas at home — something he didn’t always have himself when he was growing up.

“[My family] continuously moved around,” Johnson recalled to reporters at the Mana Holiday House party for the actor’s tequila brand Teremana. “… So our tradition was really just to have Christmas wherever we were.”

“Sometimes it was a small tree, like a small tree, and then sometimes it was a little bigger tree. And I’m an only child, so it was a small family, a small group,” he continued. “So our tradition was just to be together on Christmas.”

In addition to passing on the tradition of spending the holiday season together down to his daughters — Simone, 22, Jasmine, 8, and Tiana, 5 — he has also added in a new routine to make Christmas all the more special for the girls.

“What I try to do is to have a semblance of stability with my daughters and the family,” the actor explained. “So on Christmas Eve, the little ones do their best to stay up as long as they can, so usually around 11:00 or 11:30.”

He continued, “They finally fall asleep, and then Santa comes. And then when Santa comes, that’s a whole couple-of-hour process. So that’s our tradition now: to wake up and live Christmas and the holidays through the girls.”

Johnson — who shares his daughter Simone with ex-wife Dany Garcia and daughters Tiana and Jasmine with wife Lauren Hashian — noted at the same event that he works hard to balance out his work and home life in order to make more time for his daughters.

“I think I’ve reached a point in my life where I can create my own schedule, which has really been nice, because it wasn’t always that way, and I’m really lucky,” he said.

“And I think, in the spirit of creating my own schedule, it allows me to get closer to the girls and where they’re around every corner they’re with me,” he added.

Being a girl dad is very important to the star who previously told PEOPLE in 2021, that his daughters have allowed him to become “more tender and gentle,” and in return he and his wife have raised the girls to believe that the sky is the limit.

“Lauren and I like raising them in an environment and a culture where there are no limits to life. You can do anything you want, and you can achieve anything you want,” he said. “However, I need you to be flexible with how we get there.”
