Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and Kobe Bryant’s wife have just revealed information about erecting a statue of “The Black Mamba” in the upcoming 2023-24 season.

For most fans, Kobe Bryant is always considered a legend and one of the greatest players in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers Club.

After “Black Mamba” retired in 2016, his two jersey numbers, 8 and 24, were permanently hung from the ceiling of Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena).

Now, Kobe Bryant will receive the ultimate form of tribute to a team by erecting a statue right outside the home of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Representative of the yellow and purple team, owner Jeanie Buss, just announced on the night of August 24 (Vietnam time) that Kobe Bryant will have a bronze statue built outside the Crypto.com Arena:

“Kobe Bryant was one of the most extraordinary athletes of all time and one of the iconic names in Los Angeles sports history.

There will be no more suitable place to erect a statue of Kobe than right in the heart of this city (Los Angeles – PV), where any fan can come to admire, celebrate and be inspired by his achievements. Kobe’s special achievements”

The date of revealing this statue was chosen very delicately, which is February 8, 2024 (abbreviated and rearranged according to American usage as 8/2/24). From small to large, the numbers are 2 – 8 – 24, the three shirt numbers chosen when playing soccer by Kobe and his daughter Gianna.

Kobe’s daughter, who unfortunately passed away in a tragic helicopter crash – Gianna Bryant – always wears number 2 when playing. Particularly numbers 8 and 24 are the two shirt numbers that Kobe Bryant himself chose during his illustrious 20-year career playing in the NBA.

Unlike hanging shirt numbers permanently, erecting statues is the highest form of gratitude that football teams do to honor the greatest players in club history.

Kobe Bryant will be the 7th Los Angeles Lakers player to have a statue built, alongside legends such as Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West and commentator Chick Hearn.

According to information from ESPN, Kobe personally participated in the planning process of erecting the statue along with the Lakers leadership. Unfortunately, he passed away before everything was realized.

The statue of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna was erected at the place where the helicopter crashed, below is the date of the tragic accident – January 26, 2020.

“On behalf of my husband, daughter, and the extended Bryant family, I am honored to know that right in the heart of Los Angeles, next to the home that Kobe himself built, we will have a statue to honor. forever grateful for the legacy that Kobe Bryant left behind,” Ms. Vanessa Bryant shared.
