Hey Dua Lipa, can you see me? The pop star’s bangs were probably obscuring her vision at the Cannes Film Festival, given that they were so long they almost covered her eyes entirely.

Waterfall Fringe Is Trending Thanks to Dua Lipa | Glamour

Lipa wore the extra-long bangs to the premiere of Omar La Fraise at the legendary film festival with a messy, undone ’90s-inspired twisted updo similar to those worn by Pamela Anderson. The fringe was cut much longer than traditional curtain bangs, skimming right over Lipa’s smoky eyes and hitting mid-cheekbone. The bangs were styled by hairstylist Rio Sreedharan in a piecey, perfectly-imperfect manner with a small section falling right in the middle of Lipa’s brows and another dipping over one eye. The peekaboo effect meant that Lua could, indeed, see as she navigated the red carpet, but that ultra-long bang added an extra dose of luxury and edge to her classic black cutout gown — and as a bonus, they could easily be pulled up and pinned away or blended with the rest of her hair. Genius, TBH.

Underneath the bangs was a super glam smoky pewter and bronze eye by makeup artist Samantha Lau with a thin slash of black liner on Lipa’s waterlines for extra definition and the musician’s go-to full, lush brow. In lieu of red lipstick, Lua chose a matte terracotta color to match her blush and bronzed skin.

Lipa occasionally dips her toes into the world of bangs; even pop superstars can’t resist the urge to make the chop! The musician has fun experimenting with her look, including a set of piecey Y2K-esque bangs from spring 2022. She tends to stick to her natural deep brunette hair color, though she has gone platinum, hot pink and even bright blue for her role as a Mermaid Barbie in the forthcoming Barbie movie. When Lua changes her hair, we pay attention, because she doesn’t follow the trends — she’s always at the forefront of what’s cool, and if Lua says that sight-obscuring bangs are in for summer 2023, I’m looking for my glasses as we speak.
