Megan Thee Stallion’s Bedazzled Neon Manicure Has Us Counting Down to Summer

Megan Thee Stallion

Are you scared of snakes? It’s super fair if you are, but you don’t have to worry.Ā Megan Thee StallionĀ is here to protect you. (Or maybe she’s here to send them after you if you betray her? I don’t entirely get the vibe, so use your own best judgement.)

On May 3, nail art extraordinaire Megan Thee Stallion shared an ultra-cool new manicure that’s putting the charm in “snake charmer.” And the snake!! She first showed off the design viaĀ InstagramĀ in an emoji-code captioned post: eyeballs, snake, video game console.

Set in a bright color palette I can only compare to thisĀ neon marker set, each stiletto nail features a differentĀ 3D design, with most containing a tiny reptilian-looking eyeball dead center. While the base shade isĀ purple chrome, other elements and intricacies somehow steal the show: swirls of neon green and orange, gemstone scales, you get the vision.

Next to the nails, the 29-year-old’s post showcases a bright yellow wig with blunt bangs and an array of (fake?) video games that feature our heroine. Instead of Playstation’s “PS” logo, we get a similar looking “MS,” with the word “PLAYSTATION” replaced by “MTSTALLION.” The game itself is called “BOA: Curse of Thee Serpent Woman,” and each iteration shows different cover art of Megan posing with a big snake.

The whole thing is a nod to the character Boa Hancock from the anime/mangaĀ One PieceĀ (the only female warlord of the sea) who Megan also pays homage to in her outfit and hairstyle. “Shawty got thatĀ One PieceĀ knowledge and no one even realize thatā€™s what she posting bout,” commented a fan, while others quickly guessed that the rapper’s next single will be called “Boa.”

And because this is Megan Thee Stallion, a singleĀ wild maniĀ just wasn’t enough. In the last photo in the set, she shows off another set: long nudeĀ stiletto talonsĀ with some negative space gold chrome swirls and tips. Both designs were most likely the work of her regular nail artist,Ā Coca Michelle.

There’s no word if or when the game or potential song will be released, so if you want to embrace the vision you’ll have to do something else entirely: call your nail artist, and make sure they haveĀ neonsĀ in stock.

Megan Thee StallionĀ slithered onto theĀ BillboardĀ Hot 100 late last year with ā€œCobra,ā€ her first independent single since leaving her previous record label. She kicked off this year by making a surprise appearance onĀ Saturday Night LiveĀ last week to performĀ ā€œNot My Fault,ā€Ā her collab withĀ Mean GirlsĀ star ReneĆ© Rapp. Now, the Grammy-winning rapper is back with her second serpentine solo single, ā€œHiss.ā€

The track marks Meganā€™s first single of the year and points to a new, snake-themed direction for the Houston-bred MC. TheĀ ForbesĀ 30 Under 30 honoree teasedĀ ā€œCobraā€Ā as ā€œAct Oneā€ of a new era as she shed the skin of the past and moved into the next phase of her life. Meganā€™s highly anticipated third studio albumā€”and first as an independent artistā€”seems to be well on its way, and ā€œHissā€ serves as another taste of whatā€™s to come for the hit-making rapper.

Lyrically, ā€œHissā€ is complete 180 from the more honest ā€œCobraā€ and serves as a warning to anyone who stands in her way. She makes that clear from the beginning of the song. ā€œI just wanna kick this sā€”t off by saying, ā€˜Fā€”k yā€™all!ā€™ I ainā€™t gotta clear my name on a motherfā€”kinā€™ thing. Every time I get mentioned, one of yā€™all bā€”h aā€” nā€”as get 24 hours of attention,ā€ she declared as she kicked off the track. ā€œIā€™m finna get this sā€”t off my chest and lay it to rest. Letā€™s go!ā€ No one is safe from Meganā€™s aim throughout her rapid-fire verses, from men she wants to leave in the past to haters who donā€™t want to see her succeed. ā€œEver since I claimed the summer, all you bā€”hes want a season / Ask a hā€” why she don’t like me, bet she can’t give you a reason,ā€ she raps.

With two sharp-tongued singles in the books, a snake theme seems to have been the right choice for Meganā€™s next chapter.
