Writing on the social media platform Instagram, Frampton shared two photos alongside the Scottish actor who has been spotted several times in Northern Ireland over the past month.

“Not that often you bump into superstars in Belfast. (Gerard Butler) watched the rugby and posed for photos all night. What a guy,” the Tiger’s Bay boxer captioned the photos with a hands raised emoji.

Butler is currently in Northern Ireland filming the live action adaption of How to Train Your Dragon, which is shooting at Titanic Studios. The actor reprises his role from the animated version of the film as lead character Hiccup’s father Stoick the Vast.

The film also stars Nick Frost who will play Butler’s fellow Viking joining leads Mason Thames and Nico Parker, who stars as Hiccup’s love interest Astrid.

Julian Dennison and Harry Trevaldwyn also star in the film, with rumours Frost’s frequent collaborator Simon Pegg has also joined the cast.

Last weekend, Butler was spotted enjoying taking in the sights of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, while he was also spotted at the Merchant Hotel.

Frampton is coming off the release of his autobiography late last year which documented his fallout and subsequent legal battle with former manager Barry McGuigan.

Butler is expected to be in Belfast until the summer, while filming continues ahead of How to Train Your Dragon’s cinema release in June 2025.
