Reacher season 2 showcases a wide range of killing methods used by the show’s lethal characters, including dismemberment and dropping victims from helicopters.
The characters in Reacher are former military veterans with specialized roles, so it’s no surprise that they go to egregious lengths with their kills.
Jack Reacher, the title character, has the highest kill count in season 2 with 30 kills, including avenging the death of a fellow team member by throwing the killer out of a helicopter.
Reacher season 2 saw another high number of kills during its 8-episode run with a wide variety of killing methods deployed by various lethal characters. From dropping from helicopters to being dismembered, each Reacher character has their own, unique way of killing someone. Given that all members of Reacher’s group are former military veterans in specialized roles, this isn’t a surprise, though Reacher is known for going to egregious lengths with its kills.
Based on the books by Lee Child, Reacher season 2 follows the story of a former U.S. Army officer and military police named Jack Reacher as he fights criminals while living as a nomad.
When a member of one of his former specialized military investigation team is murdered, Reacher contacts his old team to track down the killers and bring them to justice. With that said, it’s not surprising that the kill count for Reacher season 2 reached new heights after season 1’s more self-contained location.
7. Det. Gaitano “Guy” Russo – 2 Kills
Despite some bad blood between the 110th Unit and Russo, the police officer reluctantly teams up with them to investigate Calvin Franz’s murder. After Reacher asks him to look after Marlo Burns’ daughter Jane, Russo immediately jumps into action to keep her safe at all costs.
When two of Langston’s men confront him and the young girl, Russo orders her to run as far as possible. In one of the most shocking deaths of Reacher season 2, Russo ends up mortally injured and kills 2 of Langston’s men before collapsing to the ground and dying in Neagley’s arms before an ambulance can arrive.
6. A.M. – 5 Kills
Most important character killed: Manuel Elzogby
A seasoned killer and arms broker, A.M., or Azhari Mahmoud, his most common alias, killed 5 people in Reacher season 2, but probably dozens before the events of the show, and, as an arms dealer, potentially thousands indirectly before that.
He likes to use a knife to stab his victims in either the stomach or the throat. After all of his covers are blown, A.M. decides to go to plastic surgeon Dr. Manuel Elzogby, whom he resembles, with the ruse of getting a new face. Without any hesitation, A.M. stabs the surgeon in the throat and murders the receptionist before temporarily assuming the doctor’s identity.
5. David O’Donnell – 5 Kills
Most important character killed: A.M.
Carrying a switchblade with him, O’Donnell uses that or his trusty gun to take down enemies, though he favors his brass knuckles more than anything. He is a skilled fighter and investigator, working as a lawyer when Reacher recruits him. Whether it’s protecting his own family or his fellow 110th members, O’Donnell uses his investigative skills and charm to analyze a situation, only killing if necessary.
In season 2, episode 8, “Fly Boy”, O’Donnell’s skills as a fighter are shown prominently as he and the other members of the 110th Special Investigations Unit shoot A.M. multiple times in the chest after A.M. refuses to name his weapons buyer.
4. Shane Langston – 6 Kills
Most important character killed: Russo (technically)
Whether it’s by his own hand or by the hand of one of his henchmen, Langston’s special way of killing anyone is by dropping them from his helicopter. As a clear sadist, Langston also takes special delight in torturing his victims, showing Reacher and his allies parts of former 110th team member Tony Swan’s dismembered body during his captivity.
When Reacher asks Russo to watch after Jane Burns, Langston’s men follow and attempt to kill both of them. Langston’s men manage to critically injure Russo, but not before they are taken out by Neagley, who arrives just in time.
3. Karla Dixon – 7 Kills
Most important character killed: Parker
Dixon’s methodology when it comes to killing usually involves either a knife or a gun. Another veteran from the U.S. Army, Dixon’s kill count is small but impressive. From killing the hijackers to killing a biker gang in season 2, episode 4, “A Night at the Symphony”, Dixon is a force to be reckoned with.
Apart from killing A.M., Dixon’s biggest kill was Parker. As one of the men who was responsible for Calvin’s murder, Dixon finally avenged his death by stabbing him in the neck while being held hostage onboard one of Langston’s helicopters in the season 2 finale.
2. Frances Neagley – 19 Kills
Most important character killed: Oleg
As Reacher’s second-in-command and closest comrade, Neagley is the team’s elite sharpshooter and a force to be reckoned with when using guns, even at long range and on the move. She dismantled New Age security guards as well as being one of the ones responsible for taking down A.M.
She efficiently kills Oleg in season 2, episode 5, “Burial” after she runs through men in Colorado. After Oleg arrives in New York to meet with A.M. to see the missiles, the unit storms the place and Neagley shoots Oleg in the head, killing him instantly.
1. Jack Reacher – 30 Kills
Most important character killed: Langston
As the title character, Jack Reacher has an impressive 30 kills in Reacher season 2, using a variety of methods from shooting to strangling to smashing one person’s head in with a pipe. But his biggest kill in season 2 is Langston.
After figuring out who murdered Calvin, Reacher gets back at Langston in the same way that Calvin was killed. Despite Langston pleading for his life and offering to say who Little Wing’s buyer is, Reacher throws Langston out of his helicopter to his death in an ironic twist of fate to avenge Calvin’s death.
