Funnyman Craig Ferguson is championing fellow Scot Gerard Butler as the next 007 – because he thinks that’s the best chance he has for a dream role as a James Bond baddie.

The “Big Tease” star, who now has a hit late night talk show in America, admits he has always dreamed of playing a nemesis to superspy James Bond, and he hopes pal Butler takes over from Pierce Brosnan, so he can play a big screen villain.

These Are The Celebs In Craig Ferguson's Inner Circle

The two pals met up on Ferguson’s “Late Late Show” on Wednesday night and dreamed up a new Bond movie, even though “Phantom Of The Opera” OPERA star Butler insists the rumours of him being offered the role of 007 are untrue.

Ferguson says, “When you become Bond… I’ll be the villain, I’ll be the anti-Bond… and I’ll be evil and have a false hand and stroke a cat.”

Butler was so taken by the idea of the two teaming up for a Bond film, he suggested, “We should do our own Bond.”

The actor insists he’d be a bad choice to play 007 because he’d simply play the superspy as his hero Sean Connery, who played Bond in the 1960s.
