The rumor surrounding Reacher star Alan Ritchson portraying Batman ignited when Kevin Smith called Ritchson’s character Reacher “Batman without a cape.” Since then everyone anticipated a reply from the Smallville actor who has now finally expressed to assume the mantle of Batman in James Gunn‘s DCU.

In an interview with Fortress of Solitude, the actor discussed his role as Reacher and will to portray the iconic role in the DC universe. When asked if he would want to secure the role, Ritchson replied:
” [Laughs]. With all the rumours flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman. You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually.”
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire star talked about the difference between Jack Reacher and Batman explaining that while his character has an ordinary life, Batman is an incredibly complex and filled with thrill who wields cool gadgets and resources. The actor added:
“But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.”
Alan Ritchson is highly praised for portraying Jack Reacher as his personality, looks, and height aligns with the character crafted by Lee Child in his book. However, the actor expressed admiration for portraying Batman if he ever gets a chance.

However, there have been no official updates regarding Alan Ritchson playing Batman as fans are currently enjoying the Reacher season 2 following the bad luck and trouble in the storyline on Amazon Prime. This season has a total of eight episodes, out of which three have been released and the remaining five are set for different dates until the last episode which will air on January 19, 2024.
