Hilary Swank is a wonderful actress who has given multiple awe-inspiring versatile performances over the years.
Not only has she played a wide range of roles across different genres, but her performances continue to resonate with the audience. Among the many films she has done, she nearly had her head cracked open by her co-star in one of the greatest rom-com that has ever been made.

Acting alongside Zack Snyder’s 300 star, Swank gave a wonderful performance, but she suffered a terrible injury which ended with her getting stitches and having the filming to be delayed by five days.

Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank starred in one of the world’s most iconic comedies, P.S. I Love You. A nostalgic yet hilarious film about a terminally ill husband leaving behind letters and flowers for his wife after his death, both Butler and Swank were exceptional in it.
During a striptease scene, Butler’s suspender broke off and hit his co-star right into the head. It caused the actress’ forehead to swell and bleed, eventually leading to her getting stitches on her head. Talking about the filming experiences the 300 star once stated,
“The funny thing is that there are times as an actor where you think, ‘I’m really going out on a limb here’. There are times when you’re giving a lot to a film, but I felt when I was doing that striptease that I was making a fool of myself and being ridiculous. Then at the end of all that, I injured Hilary and production had shut to be down for five days.”
The realization of his accidentally injuring his co-star led to him having an emotional breakdown. While Swank was being taken to the hospital, Butler was on set, crying.

Gerard Butler is a gentleman through and through. After the accident, while Hilary Swank was not angry, Butler felt terrible and started crying on the set.
“One minute we’re sitting there doing a silly striptease, she’s laughing and I’m laughing. Then the next minute she’s on her way to hospital and everybody is gone.
I’m sitting on the bed on my own in these stupid shamrock boxer shorts and a pair of Chelsea boots with my socks coming off. I have to tell you that I started crying. I put my head in my hands and cried.”
While such things are frequent on the film set, it is understandable that Butler felt devastated since Hilary Swank could have been seriously injured.
